The concert was to start in twenty minutes. I waited backstage in the costume we were wearing for Don't Stop Believing. We were all wearing something metallic and silver. For Ray it was his high tops, for Jared it was his fedora, for Lindsey it was her jacket and for me it was my leggings. We looked halarious.
Aside from the silver I wore a black tank top and a bright pink elbow length cardigan things and black doc martins. Linsey wore black leggings and boot heels and a bright yellow tank. Jared wore a bright blue v neck with black jeans and Ray wore a black beanie with a bright green shirt and black joggers.
All in all, we looked ridiculous. But we didn't choose what we wore.
Update: don't stop believing went amazing,
The crowd was cheering like crazy. The crazy lights made it so I couldn't find my friends in the audience though. Next song: Bette Midler's the Rose. I was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans, high heel toms, a pretty, shimmery black blouse and a coral colored statement necklace. My hair had been let down into a waterfall braid and I got a pretty coral lipgloss.Update: I feel that I killed it out there. Honestly I think I did very good. Now after a couple solos and duets, I would perform Little red Corvette with Linsey. We were both going to be wearing fun black body con dresses with bright red heels and stoplight red lipstick. Our hair was to be flat ironed to the sides. Hers literally fell to her butt. Mine just fell below my shoulders.
Jared had been performing highway to hell with Ray, which idk when they decided on that song but it was fun to watch from the sides. Jared walked off while Linsey walked on for her solo. She was singing Somewhere over the Rainbow, but the radio edit. She looked and sounded amazing. She wore a long baby blue maxi dress with her pre flat ironed hair up in a sleek pony tail. When Jared finally got to me he gave me a big hug. It had been his first performance of the night aside from the group number. I hugged him back. But that was all that happened.
"You did amazing," I said. Jared nodded. He didn't say anything for a couple minutes though.
"That is so frickin nerve wracking."
"I know. Try doing it alone," I said.
"Fortunately I don't have to do those for a couple more songs."
Update: little red corvette went amazing too. When me and Linsey had walked out we heard a lot of whoops from boys which made me laugh. Next I had I'm a Believer with Ray. I was wearing high waisted bleached cut offs, some badass looking heels, and a black crop top that said dys•func•tion•al in white letters. My hair was re curled and put into a high ponytail with a pink bandana. Ray was wearing a blue bandana around his head, a white tee shirt with who knows what on it. I couldn't really tell, nor did I have time to look at it. He wore black skinny jeans and white high tops with it. We looked cool. We also both laughed at our appearances. Although what he was wearing was something he would actually wear, and aside from the bandana I could probably rock this too.
Update: we did great. It was probably the most fun performance yet. Although me and Ray didn't really get along so well, we still pulled it off really well. We looked like we got along. The next song was my second solo. Chandelier by Sia. It was after Linsey's second solo of the night, Sugarland's Stuck Like Glue.
I was wearing a black cocktail dress with silver beaded detailing. They were taking a leaf from the music video though, so I looked like I had been at a rough party. The dress was ripped and hanging a bit, my makeup was smudged around and my hair was curled and crimped to look like I had just gotten out of bed. I looked hilarious and terrifying all at once. I wore tall black heels too. My feet were aching at this point.
Update: I think I did pretty good, although everyone has been doing amazing I feel like every update I say that I killed it, and I almost sound like Ray.
I'm not Ray.
My last duet was coming up. we would be the last act before the twenty minute break where they could count the ballots and see who won. I was singing Hero by Family of the Year with Jared. The harmonies were incredible. I was wearing a white maxi dress with dark berry colored heels. I had a gold necklace and earrings. I wore berry lipstick and gold colored eyeshadow. My hair was braided up around my face. I would be playing the guitar for this one and Jared would be playing piano.
"You ready?" Jared asked. He wore a dark berry sweater shirt and black dress pants. I nodded. He kissed me on the head.
"You look gorgeous. Let's go stun them with our amazing harmonies," he said.
"Now welcoming, as the last act before our break and final group act, Ever Arnolds and Jared Sampson, singing Hero!" The crowd screamed as the lights dimmed on the stage. Jared and I walked out onto the stage. I grabbed my guitar and sat down on a stool and Jared took the piano bench. I started picking as the lights came back.
And the first person I saw as I peered into the audience.
Callan freaking Matthews. The boy who had been tapping the shit out of his seat that first day. The boy who's property I damaged. The boy who had broken into my room when I was sad. The boy who spilled everything to me, even when I hardly knew him.
The boy who trusted me.
But I couldn't trust him.
There were tears rolling down my cheeks by the time we walked off the stage. I was rushed immediately into a dressing room before anyone could even ask what was wrong.
I was pulling on my dress, a gorgeous black shimmery ball gown. It wasn't princessy though. It was kinda like a prom dress. It was the most gorgeous thing I'd ever worn. It had cutouts in the sides that were outlined by dark rhinestones that reflected in a dark rainbow way when the light hit them. It was kind of mermaid style, where it stuck to my skin on the top to just below my butt, where it flowed to the ground in. There was a cut down the left side so when I walked you could see my leg. I wore super tall heels that were coated in the same rhinestones as my dress had. I left and my makeup and hair was redone. My makeup was very dark and waterproof and gorgeous. My hair was pinned to the right side and curled in really big, soft curls. Linsey's hair was done similarly except her hair just flowed freely in the curls. Her dress was very big. On the top it looked like she was just wearing lace, when in fact she was wearing a skin color top with lace over it, and then the skirt went from her waist to halfway down her calves. And it was poofy. It was later after layer of tool like material. On her feet she had black heels with small jewels on the toes.
Jared and Ray were dressed very similarly. Jared wore a white dress shirt under a black dress coat with black pants, while Ray wore just a black dress shirt. We were all supposed to wear dark stuff. It was the rule.
"These four singers were declared the best unknown singers by our viewers this spring, and now is time to announce the one who reigns above them all!" The crowd went wild. Linsey grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight and I grabbed Jared's and did the same, and he passed it onto Ray. Soon we were all holding hands. "Oh wow, the crowd tonight was split four ways almost evenly. We did not expect these results! In fourth place, Ray White!" The crowd cheered and booed at the same time. Ray looked pissed, but he smiled still and waved to the crowd. "In third place, Linsey Gray!" Linsey smiled and blew kisses to the audience and stepped back with Ray who gave her a hug.
"Finally, in a weird circumstance that none of us expected, being signed by Golden Records, Ever Arnolds AND Jared Sampson!" The crowd started screaming. I turned to Jared confused. He was confused too but it only lasted a couple seconds. We both smiled widely and he pulled me up off my feet into a hug and spun around once. When he put me down he gave me a quick kiss on the head. "Both Jared and Ever got the exact same amount of votes, but as a note, the booth got texts and calls that said they wanted the two to work together as a duo! I guess you two will have a lot to discuss tonight!" The crowd chuckled. "Thank you all for coming tonight, we all had an amazing time, and we hope you enjoyed the show! Until next time, for the last time ever, Ever Arnolds, Jared Sampson, Linsey Gray, and Ray White singing Seasons of love!"
Being the only one who could sing soprano, I had to sing all of the really high notes, and surprisingly, for the first time ever, I did it without my voice cracking. The crowd gave us a standing ovation when we were done. We stood and bowed and then walked off into the wings. The most exciting night of my life was over.
