Luz Pov:

As I was walking back, fiddling with my new scroll - which was quite easy to figure out in all honesty, almost just like a phone - a thought occurred to me.

Mamá must be worried about me..

I sighed to myself as I was walking back up on the Owl House, but then I paused. What if she'd let me stay here for the last two years of school? It's not like I was learning anything useful there anyhow, even with making good grades. I'd also be away from Amber and her misfits. Not to mention in a world without.. them.

I couldn't help but shudder at the thought once more, my mind clouding over with darker thoughts of the past. That was until Hooty snapped me out of it with a, "Hoot hoot. Password please."

With a blink, I couldn't help but giggle. "Hootyyy.. you know who I am-"

"Awww, c'mon! Just let me have this, this one time! Eda never let me do it the first time! Pleeeeeeeeeee-"

"Okay okay-! Um.... Owl- House-??"

"Hoot! That's RIGHT!" His mouth opened to the frame of the door, getting a slight cringe from me as I put my hands up.

"Eheh- thanks, Hooty-" That was a lot easier than I thought.

Stepping into the building, I smelled something... burning? Then a sudden crash and explosion went off, giving me dejá vu for a moment. That's when Eda and King ran into the living room while coughing and trying to wave away smoke. "Uhh.. did I come back at a bad time?"

"Huh? Oh, no- I was just trying to brew a new potion... Just got.. a little out of hand."

"A little is an understatement-" King huffed, shaking himself clean before hopping up onto the couch, curling up to take a nap.

I snirked, then looked at the time.

Mamá should be home by now.

"Hey, Eda? Could I use the door key? I um.. I need to talk with my mom.. 'bout some things.." Eda looked a bit skeptical at first, but eventually put on a sympathetic smile for me, pulling out the key from her hair and offering it out in her palm.

"Sure, kiddo. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll turn out alright."

"Thanks, Eda." I smiled in return, grabbing the key and giving her a quick huh, then summoned the portal door. It unfolded in front of me, opening as I unlocked it and revealed the warbling surface, which soon stabilized into the human realm. Taking a breath, I walked through, pocketing the key for now and heading back towards my house a ways down the path.

Once I reached the steps, I was about to open the door before it opened for me instead. It was Vee, blinking at me in surprise. I had almost forgotten she had been living with us, since she was away on a camping trip with her friend Masha for a couple weeks. "Oh- hey, there you are! Your mom has been.. kinda looking for ya." She grinned apologetically.

"Hoo boy... This is gonna be an earful-" I walked past her, seeing mom sitting on the couch and watching TV. "Eheh- heya mamá-"

"Luz!" She quickly turned the television off, coming over and practically bear hugging me. "I was so worried when I got your note! I didn't know how to reach you-"

"Y-Ya know you could've- t-texted me-" I wheezed out, before gasping for air as she let go and placed her hands on my shoulders.

"Oh- right... But that's besides the point, Mija!" She crossed her arms at me with a slight motherly glare. "You could've gotten hurt over there!"
