Eda Pov:
It was a nice, quiet evening today. I was enjoying a nice cup of apple blood while laying out in the sun on my lawn chair, simply enjoying myself. For once.. it was peaceful.
That was... until it was ruined.
I heard someone call out to me as they ran closer towards the house, making me jolt and groan as I spilled some of my apple blood. I looked up to see who could do such a thing to me, only to see Luz being carried by the plant girl and the Boots. And by the looks of it, it wasn't good. Luz had bits of ice freezing over her body, which looked to be slowly but surely spreading.
I jumped up and ran over to help, scooping her up into my arms. "What the heck happened?!"
"We'll explain when we get inside, just get her some place warm so the ice can start melting-!" Blight panted. I nodded and led them inside, then laid Luz along the couch next to the fireplace. In one snap, it lit with flames. Then I turned back towards the others with my hands along my hips.
"Now, do one of you wanna tell me what's going on?"
The Blight girl sighed, and ran a hand through her pink locks. She looked panicked.. more panicked than Willow was at the moment. I guess she did have a thing for Luz. "So you remember when me and Luz had to go into Willow's mind? To fix what I-..." She paused, unable to say more, but plant girl was able to comfort her with a gentle squeeze to her shoulder.
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. I had all the information I needed to know at this point. "So it's that but with ice this time... Gotcha-"
Amity nodded in response.
"So who did it? Who froze one of her memories?"
They paused, glancing towards each other with concerned expressions. Willow was the first to respond. "She uh... She did this to herself.."
Silence.
We all looked back over to Luz as she began to shiver, placing my hand along her forehead. She was freezing. If she stayed too long like this it could do some real damage to her psyche. "I'll.. go get some blankets-" Willow softly spoke, going off upstairs where I had most of my junk. There were blankets... somewhere up there.
Then I heard Boots speak up, her voice seeming to quiver ever so slightly. "We were just.. doing what we were told to do during class... and then we heard her shouting at her class partner before casting an ice gliff on the memory.." She gripped the hem of her uniform, looking as if she was about to cry. "I've never seen her look so... broken- not even with Belos.."
I placed a hand on her shoulder, giving a reassuring smile as she looked up to me in surprise. "Don't worry, Boots.. we got this. We've done this before, remember? I'm sure whatever it was she can work it out."
Willow came back downstairs with a few blankets, draping them over Luz as she continued to shiver. I sighed. "Well, since I can't do magic, I'm gonna have to teach one of you to do the spell and I'll go with whoever doesn't learn it. Don't want what happened last time to happen again."
The two witchlings looked to each other, having some sort of silent conversation before Willow raised her hand. "I'll learn it."
"Great! Let's get to it then, quickly." I explained how the spell worked, making sure that the plant girl would be able to bring us both inside and back out. "Now remember, if you hear this bell, bring us out. Alright?"
The plant girl nodded and I took hold of Blight's hand before giving a nod. She took a breath, then cast the spell, sucking us into Luz's mind. I'd never get used to that feeling. That tug that felt like your body was dismembering itself.
It was dark at first, but everything flashed forward to a large landscape filled with trees, frames in the middle of them all. Except in this forest of memories, the landscape was bitter, cold. Covered in ice and snow.
