"So, you snuck out." Alan said and glared at Luke who frowned right back.

"A kanima is running around in the town and you expect me to sit on my ass and do nothing?!" Shouted Luke.

"I just want to protect you! If the Argents know about vampire in Beacon Hills then god knows who else does too!"

"I'm hundreds of years old! I don't need your protection! Don't you get that it's pointless?! If I get a chance die as a hero rather than a train wreck then sure as hell I'll take it! ALL OF YOU ARE JUST SO FUCKING NICE TO ME THAT I CAN'T HELP MYSELF BUT TO LOVE YOU! I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANOTHER FUCKING FUNERAL! I'D RATHER RUN A WOODEN STREAK THROUGHT MY DEAD HEART!"

Luke let out a quick gasp when he realised what he had done. He bit his tongue and hissed when his fangs pierced through the flesh. He tried to blink away the silver in his eyes. It didn't disappear. The words from many years ago rang through his mind.

Get a load of this monster!

He doesn't know how to communicate. His mind is in a different place, will everybody please give him a little bit of space!

It was his sister who protected him that time. Too bad he couldn't protect her from himself...

Get a load of this train wreck. His hair's a mess and he doesn't know who he is yet.

But little do we know, the stars welcome him with open arms.

That was James. The former head of the vampire clan Petra belonged to, and frankly, the only vampire who ever treated him with compassion. It was him who often stopped the bullying that the other vampires put him through.

"I DON'T NEED YOUR PROTECTION!"

He shouted back both times.

He never got a chance to apologise. It was always too late.

Alan stared at the hybrid before him. The brunette was shaking like a leaf as his silver eyes stared at his father figure in horror.

"S-sorry..." Whimpered Luke and at that moment, Alan saw the skinny and afraid vampire who crashed into the trash cans 4 years ago. Before the veterinarian could say anything, Luke bolted away.

-Time skip-

The hybrid didn't know where he stopped. He was still in town, but far away from Deaton's home. Luke leaned his hand on his knees and took a few shaky breaths, even tho he didn't need air for survival.

"You are either brave or stupid to show up so close to our home at this time of the day." Said a voice from behind him. The hybrid blinked away the tears and snapped his head to the man that was standing behind him.

To say that Chris Argent was surprised to see the reddens and tears in the boy's eyes would be an understatement.

"Leave me alone." Luke attempted to growl, but with his shaky voice it sounded more like a plead.

"Hey, what's-"

"Stop!" Interrupted the hunter, Luke.

"Don't... act all nice and shit. Don't make me- I don't- fuck! Just hate me like you're supposed to!" And with that, the hybrid disappeared into the night, leaving concerned Argent standing in the middle of the road.
