A little heads up, this is a weird chapter.
~PHI's POV~
"Fuck that bastard!" Naina cheered, raising her glass of whiskey.
"Yeah! Fuck him!" We clinked our glasses together, gulping the alcohol in one go.
We-Naina's usual group and me, were at a club, celebrating the end of exams. After the long preparation and ten days of exams, we were all burned out. I wanted to go to my room and snuggle in my blanket, but Naina made me come here. So here we were, cussing Naina's ex- boyfriend in a three drinks down stage. She was chatting on the cellphone, frowning the whole time when Omer inquired, and she blurted out everything one by one. The beautiful start to the devastating end, and a kind of weird situation between her best friend and the guy. Now, I could understand why she was so stubborn about not getting in a relationship. The guy had messed her up.
"What is this? Jazz? Jazz at a club? This is sacrilegious. SAC-RILEGIOUS. SAC-RI-LEGIOUS." Omer threw up his hands in frustration.
"Okay, okay, we get it," I interrupted him because I couldn't bear any more of his sacrilegious-y.
"Why didn't Pam come?" Seth asked, licking his fingers after savouring the spicy roasted chicken.
"Why? You still want to trap that girl and steal all her money?" Lisa elbowed him.
"Noo.. I was just asking. Phi, you tell me, is she rich? Like Bill Gates kind of rich?" Seth asked again.
"I don't know much. Not Bill Gates kind, but still pretty rich I think," I said, looking at Naina to save me from this discussion. Naina was busy chewing the chicken wings with her eyes closed. Her face reflected the peace she had after venting out all her frustration.
"But why didn't she come?"
Because I didn't ask her to. And now I felt guilty about that.
Naina banged her hands on the table, her eyes now opened wide. "If you're so eager to meet her, why don't you go to her room? I'm sure you cheap version of Sherlock Holmes must have found her address as well."
Lisa choked on her drink and Seth focused all his attention on her, patting her back. There was silence for sometime, except for Lisa's repeated coughs and the Jazz.
I looked around the club. The dance floor was occupied with a single couple grooving on the music, their hands on each other. Omer was not the only one who thought Jazz at a club was sacrilegious. People were asking for a change of music, some yelling from the dance floor, others from their seats. But the DJ was living in his own accord, ignoring the requests. A man in a black suit walked to him and whatever magic he did, the music changed the next instant. People cheered, and the club became more lively with the loud bass that made my heart skip a beat.
"C'mon bitches, let's dance!" Naina stood up abruptly, wiping her mouth with her sweater sleeve.
"Wohoooo!" The guys yanked their arms and legs and ran to the dance floor. Lisa, Naina and I proceeded too, but in a more humanlike manner.
We didn't dance, but jumped on the dance floor, considering it our personal tarpaulin. Even me. I couldn't think I would do such things with her friends. They really bring out my unsocialised side. The blaring music was making me happy.
I bumped into a girl who- I do not know why- started dancing closer to me. In the flickering red-blue lights, I saw Naina snapping her fingers in front of her face and pointing to the other side.
I snorted. Wait, I don't act like this. How many drinks did I have?
"Let's have some tequila shots," Naina yelled in my ear.
