Sinuhe's POV

Blood pools out as the Confederate soldier cries out in pain.

"Please hold still, sir," I said. I start to stitch the wound back up and once I'm done I cover the wound with some cloth, putting something so it stays in place. "There you go," I said.

The soldier wipes the beads of sweat from his brow and smiles weakly at me. "Thank you, ma'am," He says.

"That is quite a shock. Most men here call me barbarian or some other harsh word," I said.

"I am sorry to hear that. I may be fighting for the South, I am a white male but I still respect women. Slaves or not," The soldier says.

"Are you not a slave owner, sir?" I ask.

"No. Most slave owners are considered the rich," The soldier says.

"Do you know where slaves go?" I ask.

"No," The soldier shakes his head. He puts his shirt back on then his jacket. "Why, ma'am? Are you looking for someone?" He asks.

"My husband and my daughter. I do not know what became of them," I said.

"The only people who will know are the Elite Circle," The soldier says.

"I do hope they are okay," I frown.

"Is that the only family you have?" The soldier asks.

"No, my son," I said.

"Do you know what became of him?" The soldier asks.

"Yes. I do know he is okay. The Colonel kept him and he is now a soldier for the Confederate Army," I said.

"Is he stationed here?" The soldier asks.

"No. I suspect the Colonel tries to keep us apart but I hope I will see him," I said.

"If you shall desire it, I can help you find your family," The soldier says.

"Oh! You will do that, sir?" My face lights up.

"My family was killed. I cannot see a woman suffer because she knows nothing of her family. I shall be your ally if you allow me," The soldier says.

"Of course, sir. Absolutely," I said.

"I am glad. But one thing, ma'am, we shall keep this alliance secret. If the other soldiers find out or even the Elite Circle itself, I will be sent to be assassinated for helping a slave," The soldier says.

"I shall keep my mouth shut," I said.

"In time I will help you escape but as of now, I cannot. But I can help in finding out where your son is stationed," The soldier stands up.

I stand up as well and smile brightly. "I will give you a million thank you's, sir," I said.

"I will come bearing news when I have it," The soldier says. He puts his hat on and walks off leaving me alone in the nurse's tent.

I sit back down on my stool and hide my face in my hands. "Mi amor, mi niña, mi niño... I hope you are all okay. That you all are not suffering from the horrible things your owners may be doing to you all," I said.

"What are you doing just sitting around? Get to work."

I look to see my owner, he's the captain of the small Confederate army group that I have been sold to by the Colonel.

"Yes, sir," I said.

"There are soldiers that need to get treated," The Captain says then walks off.

I am hoping the soldier gets information about where my son is. I do not know where Camila and Alejandro are but once I know where Shawn is I will reunite with him and together we will find Alejandro and Camila no matter what we have to do to achieve it.
