"Here my niña, I will show you how to cook for yourself or your husband or wife in the future," Sinuhe says.

"Mami, I have discussed with you that at the moment no marriages," Camila says.

"But marriages can unite us with whomever you decide to marry," Sinuhe says.

"I know. But I am way too young, I am just barely ten. We will see in a couple of years from now," Camila says.

"Of course. Now let us cook, dinner time is nearing," Sinuhe says.

"You have my undivided attention, mami," Camila says.

Camila's POV

I follow Lauren into the kitchen as she prepares the pans.

"You know... I have cooked but I have never cooked in a kitchen," I said.

"Can I guess where you cooked?" Lauren asks.

"Of course," I smile.

"You cooked over a campfire," Lauren says.

"You are correct," I said. I walk closer to her and lean against the counter. "Where did you learn how to cook?" I ask.

Lauren moves and grabs ingredients from the fridge then sets them down on the counter. "My mother. She taught me when I was so young for when I was to marry. Even though women in my position do not cook since we have chefs to do that, my mother always said that sometimes it is a sweet gesture to cook or help cook for your wife or husband," Lauren says.

"Our mothers sound the same except for me a marriage in the tribe will mean I will have to cook all the time since we are not like you, the rich," I said.

"Tell me. Do men do the hunting and the women the cooking and cleaning? Or do women help in hunting?" Lauren asks.

"Well, due to me I did hunt from time to time with my father and my brother so some women did. My mother never liked it but I still did it," I said.

"Should have known you would have changed the roles," Lauren smiles.

She starts to cook some meat as I smile watching how she expertly moves the meat in the pan so it doesn't burn.

"Can you watch over it? I will like to change out of these clothes," Lauren says.

"Of course," I nod.

I take over the pan as Lauren walks out of the kitchen to change clothes.

Minutes later she comes back in dressed in more commoner clothes.

"Wow... You look great as a commoner," I said.

"Thank you, my love," Lauren smiles. She walks behind me and wraps her arms around me as she helps me cook.

"I love this," I said.

"I am glad," Lauren rests her chin on my shoulder.

She starts doing other things to add to the dish as I finish up with the meat.

"Where is Sir Tom?" I ask after a moment's silence.

"I sent him into town. To gather information about the captain and so we can be left alone," Lauren says.

"Then we can skip dinner," I suggest.

Lauren laughs as she walks over to me and kisses my cheek. "I would love too but my stomach disagrees otherwise," She says.

Right as she says that, my stomach rumbles making her laugh louder.

"I suppose mine does too," I giggle.

After we finish cooking dinner, Lauren fills our wine glasses as I set our plates filled with food on the table.

Lauren and I take a seat across from each other as we begin to eat.

"Lauren, may I ask you a question?" I ask.

Lauren looks at me as she takes a sip of her wine, setting the glass down. She nods and continues to eat. "Go ahead," Lauren says.

"What are your thoughts on marriage?" I ask.

Lauren stops eating as she sets her utensils down and wipes the corner of her lips. She grabs her wine glass, takes a sip, and sets it down. "Why the question?" Lauren asks.

"I am just making talk," I said.

Lauren stares deeply into my eyes as she holds one of her hands out and I take it in mine.

"Marriage is something beautiful. I saw how happy my parents were. I only ever wish I have a marriage like theirs. There was never fighting, there was never doubt between them. They were strong as individuals but even strong as a pair. They inspired me. Do I want to marry? Yes but not now. And you?" Lauren says.

"I never had a say in it. I had a betrothed. Have. But I do not know where he is. We were such great friends when we were younger and well, our tribes decided that it will be the greatest to marry us. But I never loved him, I had a feeling he did but he knew what my feelings towards him were. Maybe I do not have him as my betrothed anymore since he probably thinks I am dead. If he thinks I am alive, he probably thinks I will never see him again so his tribe probably betrothed him to someone else," I said.

"So you will not go back to him? I understand that you will do anything for your tribe and if this helps them, I will not get in the way," Lauren says.

"Of course not. I am happy here... With you," I smiled brightly at her.

"Good. Because I was lying," Lauren teases.

I laugh as we continue to eat and once we are done, we put our dishes in the sink.

"I will wash these," Lauren says.

"No, I want to help you," I said.

"Okay," Lauren smiles.

After we team up and wash the dishes together, Lauren and I walk down the hallway towards one of the bedrooms, precisely hers.

"This is why I wanted to change," Lauren says.

She motions to her clothes which are extremely wet due to the dishes, making me laugh.

"Let us go to sleep," I said.

"We're going to have a long week," Lauren says.
