Miriam Pierce is a strong and happy young woman, full of life. She is loved by both her parents and everyone around her. People look twice when they pass her on the street. But she isn't vain, the total opposite in fact. She is humble, kind and compassionate. Always there to help the people in need and has never a bad thought about anyone, traits she has inherit from her parents. She is simply magical.
But all that will change when the nazis invades her home and turns her life upside down. Now traumatized and alone, she will have to face her hardest struggles. A life without parents, an entire city who knows too much, a home in ruins and an uncle who wants her dead.
What will happen when she befriends four siblings, who just like her have to evacuate to the countryside to escape a warzone? And what will happen when they enter an entirely new world inside a wardrobe?
