For the next few days, Lucy still felt miserable about the whole incident. She knew she could've easily made up with her siblings if she had only told them she had made up the whole story, but Lucy was a very truthful girl. She knew she was right, therefor she couldn't bring herself to say it. Miriam didn't want her to lie to bring peace to the group either. She believed the other's would come around and apologies. They just needed more proof. Peter and Susan, although believing Lucy to be lying, didn't mean to cause Lucy unhappiness. Edmund, however, could be spiteful, and sometimes sneered and jeered at Lucy and kept asking her if she'd found any other new countries in other wardrobes in the house. Miriam tried her best to support Lucy and each day she found new ways to distract the girl.

The weather was fine, and they would spend most of their waking hours outdoors. They would go swimming in the lake, fishing, climbing trees, and just lying down in the grass while soaking up the sun. Even though all children were together, and Miriam tried her best to make everyone get along, Lucy couldn't enjoy it as much as she would like. And that's how things went on until the next wet day. The rain was pouring down and it seemed like a never-ending story. They were trapped inside, so when afternoon came, they decided to play hide-and-seek. Miriam had to convince Lucy to play, that she would enjoy it and eventually Lucy agreed. Susan was "It" and as soon as the others scattered to hide, Lucy run to the room where the wardrobe was. She didn't mean to hide in the wardrobe because she knew that would only make the others talk again. But she did want to have another look inside it, for she had also started to doubt whether Narnia and the Faun was real, that maybe it was just a dream. She thought she would have time to have one more look into the wardrobe and still make it to another hiding place before Susan had finished counting, the house was rather large after all. But as soon as she reached the wardrobe, she heard steps in the passage outside and so she had no other choice but to jump into the wardrobe and hold the door closed behind her.

The steps she had heard were those of Edmund

The steps she had heard were those of Edmund. He walked into the room just in time to see Lucy vanish into the wardrobe and decided to get inside too. It wasn't because he thought it was a particularly good hiding place, but because he wanted to tease her about her imaginary country. He knew it was wrong, especially after what Miriam had said, but he just couldn't help it. He opened the door to the wardrobe where the usual coats were hanging and the smell of mothballs. It was completely dark and silent, but there was no sign of Lucy. He jumped in and shut the door then began to feel around for Lucy. He had expected to find her in a few seconds and was very surprised when he didn't. He looked back in search for the door but when he couldn't find the door either, he began groping wildly in every direction for he didn't like the situation at all.

"Lucy! Lu! Where are you? I know you're here." He shouted, but there was no answer. He noticed that his voice sounded different, not the sound you expected in a wardrobe, but a kind of open-air sound and it had turned unexpectedly cold. Then he saw a light.

"Thank goodness. The door must have swung open of its own accord." Edmund said. He had forgotten all about Lucy and instead he walked towards the light, which he thought came from the spare room. But instead, he found himself stepping out from the shadow of some thick dark fir trees into an open place in the middle of a forest.
