Chapter 11: "Amnesia"

"Rei?.."

"Oh my god. Is she?!-"

"Just calm down, give her some room to breathe!"

"Rei-chan! Wake up!"

".. M-.. Mm.." Rei slowly opened her eyes, the blinding light of the overhead light filling her vision as a foreign living room slowly began to form. ".. Wh.. Where am I?.."

"You're at our house now." Mami whispered, running her hand through her green hair as her head rested in Mami's lap. ".. You're safe."

".. What happened?.. Where's Ring?" Rei whispered, slowly trying to sit up, but grunting in pain.

"J-Just hang on a second!" Sayaka quickly rushed over to Rei, laying her back down. "We're trying to find Ring and Juubey.. Both of them just disappeared during the fight.."

"Mm." Mami nodded. "Tsuki, Gin and Homura are currently out trying to find some kind of trail.. Until then, we just have to wait here and see."

"Rei, what do you remember?" Sayaka asked. "I remember seeing the flowery ramp fall from the heavens, I remember feeling you descend onto our world.. Do you remember any of that?"

".. I.." Rei held her head, her vision hazy. ".. I remember.. A falling sensation.. When I landed, it-.. It felt like the ground moved out from underneath me, and I just kept falling, and falling.." She looked down at her hand, weaving her fingers around before noticing something. ".. Where's my ring?.. My soul gem?"

Mami and Sayaka slowly look at each other, with an equal amount of confusion. ".. You don't have your soul gem?" Mami asked.

"N-No, it's gone.. And.." Rei would clench her fists, trying to focus enough to be able to transform, but alas, not even a glow emitted from her. ".. I can't transform! I'm not a magical girl anymore!"

".. This has to be the work of Kyuubey." Sayaka clenched her fists. ".. He's probably behind the disappearance of Ring and Juubey too!"

"Calm down, you two.." Mami softly sighed, running a hand through her bangs in quiet frustration. ".. Sayaka, do you remember when Madoka went through a similar state at the hands of Homura? She used her abilities to separate Madoka from the wish she asked for; To pull her away from the Law of Cycles itself."

".. Right, and.. That place we had found Homura at, that place in the middle of nowhere.." Sayaka looked at Mami, memories flickering through her eyes like a movie. ".. The Inhibition Field."

"If I had to wager a guess.. Ring, Juubey, and Rei's magic.. They are locked away in that same location.. The problem is, we were given a blessing by Madoka to even be able to pull off a feat such as destroying the Inhibition Field.."

"I had combined her blessing with Oktavia.. I don't know if Oktavia's strength will be enough to break it alone." Sayaka frowned.

"This might be an entirely different field than before altogether, Kyuubey had the time to coordinate with both Juubey and Ryu prior.." Mami sighed. "Rei.." She looked down at Rei, before gasping lightly.

Rei was asleep, her head in Mami's lap. Mami softly smiled, running her hands through her hair. ".. Sayaka.. If Rei isn't a magical girl anymore.."

".. That makes her an easy target to become Kyuubey's puppet." Sayaka grit her teeth. ".. Dammit.." She whispered, standing up. ".. We're in a situation, that's for sure.."
