Dear diary,
Two miracles happened today. Firstly after what felt like ages, we spoke, and secondly, were able to get a glimpse of penguins. I am not sure which surprised me more. The sight of penguins from far put me at ease, it is the feeling of watching something mesmerizing and at the same time isolated. Taehyung and I stayed there for a while a comforting silence surrounded us, watching a waddle of penguins moving into the water making them a raft. "You know they mate for life" - this was the sentence that broke the silence of days. I just looked at him curiously, secretly hoping he would continue. He told me that penguins are quite a species, they are away from the cruel deeds of the world and unlike the tropical animals, they haven't yet experienced the direct effect of human greed. There is no one here to train them, use them, or even judge them, it is just ice, ice, and ice. "Sometimes it's better to close your eyes and savor the moment before it's gone", his eyes held this reassuring embrace while saying this. He looked into my eyes with an unsaid expression, giving me a sense of assurance. I hope it remains so, but somewhere in the back of my head, I knew that is not going to be the case.
