I wake up shaking.

Brendan!

I know him from someplace other than school. If that really happened and wasn't just a dream then Brendan would probably remember.

Right?

I looked around the room and remembered that I was in my room. I couldn't really see anything because it was pitch black outside. My computer and my books from doing homework last night, were still spread across the top of my bed.

I closed my eyes to try to fall asleep, but I couldn't because my mind was distracted by the thought that my dad might have been lying to me my whole life. Instead of working at the local phone company, he was really an undercover agent.

I picked up my computer and logged in. I was about to search Brendan's name when a pop-up came up advertising a break in and an amber alert. I looked at the address. That was really close to my house!

Well, my old house.

Slightly freaked out, I x'ed out of that window and opened up the Internet.

I started to actually search Brendan when I heard a car engine. I could hear the engine coming closer and I quickly shut off my computer.

After a minute of silence, I figured I was just being paranoid and I opened my computer again. I searched Brendan's name again and his profile came up just the same as it was last night. I can't believe that I know Brendan was a C.I.A. agent.

Closing out of that window, I got up to go to the bathroom.

When I was washing my hands I thought I heard a bang outside my door. I held my breath and stared at myself in the mirror. I didn't hear anything else, so I figure I nothing has happened.

I walked out of the bathroom feeling like something was amiss. I thought I saw a shadow cross my room but I'm probably just tired.

As I got got in bed I felt something grab my feet.

I screamed bloody murder.
