WOOOOO!!!!! Finally done with this chapter!!!! Hope you enjoy!!
*******Flashback continues*******
We reach the outside of the headquarter building. Our objective is to get the flash drive containing all the information about institution day.
Alissa removes the air vent cover of the outside of the building and crawls inside. We memorized the air vent tunnels so we could navigate our way around.
I crawl in after Alissa and Brendan is last so he can screw on the cover. We make our way to the ladies restroom just outside the banquet that is going on to celebrate institution day.
Alissa pokes a sound detector out through one of the horizontal slits and listens to see if anyone is in the bathroom.
After she give us the all clear signal, I open the vent cover and crawl out. They both come out behind me as I mind the bathroom door. After the air vent is closed, I peek out into the hallway to see if anyone is there. I give Brendan the all clear and he goes out to go to the men's restroom. Alissa and I stay in here because under the sink are two ballroom gowns that someone hid for us.
We get them out and go into the large stalls to put them on.
Just as I zipper my dress, I hear two women enter the bathroom chattily. I freeze and realize there are only two stalls. I hurriedly get my shoes on and stuff my camo clothes into the duffel bag that the dress came in. I throw them in the large trash and walk out to do my hair. One lady smiles at me as she passes me to go into the stall.
I pretend to fix my hair even though it's fine. After about a minute the other lady that kind of looks like that kid Austin asks me "Do you know the person in there? They need to hurry up!"
"No" I said and walk out of the bathroom hoping Alissa's dress fit.
I anxiously wait in the hallway and about 30 seconds later, Alissa rushes out.
"What took you so long?" I whisper as we walk down the hallway to the party.
"Brendan kept texting me about which tie to wear and how to do the tuxedo cuffs." She says looking down at her Apple Watch.
As we approach the grand stairway, Alissa lags behind me so we don't look like we know each other. I go down the stairwell first and spot Brendan.
I make my way across the dance floor over to the other stairwell. I walk up it and go down a hallway.
As I hear guards voices approaching, I go into the closest door. It's a janitors closet. But it's the one I need to be in.
This building has so many secret passages that used to be for servants that are mostly no longer in use or forgotten about. As move all the brooms and buckets and reach the doorway at the other side of the closet.
I go in it and continue down the musty passageway.
Without using a sound censor I open the other end into another closet. The I open that door into a hallway deep inside the building. I wait impatiently for Alissa and Brendan because I was supposed to be the last one here.
After about a minute, Alissa comes in from a different passageway.
"We need to go! They know we are here! I texted Brendan and he said he will meet us later." Alissa says as she scrambles to the door.
We race out and after a couple seconds the guards chase us.
I try to remember the map in my head and I realize we needed to take the last right.
I turn around suddenly and whack the guard in the head with his gun and take the gun.
Alissa does the same and follows me. I can hear footsteps coming out of another hallway in front of us and hope to God it isn't a guard.
And it isn't. It's Brendan.
We run together, three people acting like their out of their minds. Possibly running to our deaths or to escape death.
We reach just outside the room with the flash drive.
I hit the one of the guards with helmet of a soldier statue and Brendan punches the other one in the face. They crumple to the ground and I grab the key to the door. I unlock it and race inside.
I stop in my tracks.
There are about ten people milling about the case that holds the flash drive.
And the one staring right at me is my dad.
