"Good morning, Elias!"
A cheery voice rang out through the bright room, which Elias immediately noted to have a lingering stench of iron.M/N's expression seemed to practically light up when the door to his bedroom creaked open slightly.
Elias peeked his head through the doorway before propping the door open with his foot. He winced slightly at his brother's volume, taking a moment as he struggled to push the door open with his elbow.
"Good — morning to you too, M/N."
Not moving an inch, M/N simply stared at his brother with a slightly amused smile. As the door finally budged, it was revealed that Elias' struggle was caused by having his hands full with two plates of breakfast.
Two pristine plates of fluffy pancakes, topped with select fruits and syrup, happened to be the pick for the morning. It was simple compared to most dishes Elias would prepare, but M/N appreciated it regardless.
With a small sigh of relief, Elias took his seat beside M/N on the cold hardwood floor. The two sat quietly for a few moments, the youngest being ecstatic to see his brother again after a night of loneliness.
An overwhelming sweetness flooded his tastebuds when M/N took a bite of his breakfast, making him hum in brief happiness. Picking at his plate, Elias eventually began to speak first.
"I actually have some news today, M/N."
The young boy's head perked up almost instantly. He hummed curiously in response as Elias continued; "We'll be going out on a trip. Visiting some noble family up in the mountains or something like that."
Elias paused to take a bite of his pancakes as M/N gasped in response.
"R—??"
M/N abruptly burst into a fit of coughs, patting his chest rapidly. Elias stifled a small laugh as he passed over a bottle of water, which the boy accepted graciously.
"Calm down, would you?" Elias spoke with an almost amused tone, before he settled back into a comfortable silence. It took a few heavy gulps of water and some time to settle down until M/N piped up again with a wide, goofy smile.
"Really?? We get to go somewhere new?"
Elias nodded and gave a small smile in return, "Yeah! Although — it'll take a while to get there so we should start packing today."
