In which, the royal family runs into a young cobbler.

The profession — not the food.
Very much inspired by 'the thief and the cobbler', which I recently watched an entire video essay on. I recommend checking it out if you wanna go down an interesting animation rabbit hole!

Hope you enjoy this completely random extra that no one asked for! :>

**cobbler - someone who repairs, or possibly even makes, shoes as job.

". . . careful."

Kikyo and Kalluto stopped in their tracks as he spoke quietly.

Walking through the town, neither expected to run into any issues so early into the evening. Yet, their eyes quickly caught onto the figure of a small boy, scrambling to grab something along the floor.

"Oh — I'm very sorry!"

Along the cobblestone path were several small, scattered tacks. The pointed nails laid directly in front of the two. Kikyo slowly shifted her gaze on the center tack, dragging her foot back as she nearly stepped onto it.

The boy's hands moved quickly, gathering the scramble of tacks from the floor while a list of apologies spewed from his lips. He stood upright quickly and rushed out the path with an apologetic smile.

"Again, I'm dearly sorry! This path is an absolute pain to walk through, so please be very careful to not trip — as I did. . . eheh." He stood with his hands together in a plea for forgiveness.

Kalluto stood with a blank expression, glaring into the boy's eyes as he sunk further in himself in remorse. Kikyo slowly pursed her lips at the apology. She swung her foot forward, kicking away the one final tack that the boy had forgotten.

At the sight, his face fell once again. The boy stammered out another apology, getting cut off by the woman's voice as he paused.

"Kalluto." Kikyo spoke blankly, barely sending her son a glance. Kalluto only nodded. He flicked open a white fan in his hand, glaring at the boy from behind the paper. This was met with a very confused look.

The flick of the fan served as a distraction, keeping him from reacting as he was suddenly grabbed and dragged along the stone floor. The boy gave the smallest screech, kicking his feet along the cobble as the surrounding trees whizzed past him much faster than they should.

The only thing the boy could register was the wind rushing past his skin and the tight grasp on his wrist.

Kalluto ignored the struggle, keeping up with his mother in running all the way back to their home.
