"Wait - why are there five of them?"
A raspy voice called out from the remaining cloaked figures.
The group simply shrugged in response. Killua took the chance to point at M/N with a deflective whistle while M/N looked back at him in disbelief.
Lippo's voice rang out from the hidden speakers immediately.
"Gentleman, let me explain a few things first. You've probably already noticed that some of the prisoners of Trick Tower are standing before you."
"They're prisoners?" Kurapika questioned.
"Wh - aren't we the prisoners?" M/N muttered in confusion.
"No, we're exam applicants." Kurapika responded. M/N nodded, still not getting it.
so, we're not being arrested?

"They're not just prisoners. The Hunter Exam Committee has also officially hired them on as examiners." Lippo spoke with a smile evident in his tone, despite not being visible to anyone in the room. "In this phase, you'll be fighting against five of them, since - well, there's only five of you."
M/N chuckled bashfully as the group blankly stared at him.
"The fights will be one-on-one, with each person fighting only once. Use any style you like. There will be no draws. To be declared the victor, your opponent must admit defeat."
The scarred man spoke up once more with a grin, "You can decide which of you will be the first contender. And this is majority rule, which means you have to secure three wins to pass. It would have been four, but - well. The rules are simple."
