We sat there silently with Cindy manning the ship in a cute little captain's suit. She is a sweet little petite girl with a perky smile. She kept smiling back at Harry. He smirked back a few times but he still seemed angry.
I didn't ask about it. I didn't want to get into his business. We made it to shore and Harry got out without a word.
"I'll meet up with you in a second Harry." I told him.
"Alright." He said, his back facing me walking off the boat.
I turned to Cindy. "Thanks by the way."
"No problem. It's my job." She replied.
"I need you for something else." I said.
"Anything."
"I might need extra security in disguise tonight."
"This mission keeps getting better and better. Of course I'll do it. But what should I be disguised as?"
"C'mon Jennifer!" Harry yelled in the distance.
"I've got a perfect idea. I'll text you it." I said before exiting the boat.
"So where would you like to go now?" Harry asked.
"Get you ready for the concert. Lets go." I said dragging him towards James' taxi.
"Fine." He whined.
We sat down silently in the taxi. He looked a bit tired. It was only 5:00. Maybe he's just nervous.
"Harry? You okay?" I asked.
"Um, yeah. Just a bit worried about tonight." He replied.
"You'll do great. I know you will." I said with a reassuring smile.
Harry smiled back at me and we just say there looking at each other for a while. I could see James smile through the rear view mirror out of the corner of my eye.
"We're here!" He yelled catching me off guard.
Harry escorted me out and tried to pay James again but he refused. We went inside the hotel with a very pissed Paul. Wow I am not making a good impression.
"We were worried sick about you Harry. We saw on the news that you were trapped in a speed boat. What happened?" Paul asked angrily.
"Well-" Harry began.
"Stop Harry. This was my fault and I can't always let you take the blame." I interrupted.
"But it wasn't-"
"Someone take this lovesick puppy away." Paul said.
A few body guards dragged an unwilling Harry to the elevator.
"Well what happened was that Harry wanted to go to the Statue of Liberty. So we went and there was a long line so I had a few connections over there so I got us a shortcut with a speedboat. We went there quite smoothly. But when we were about to leave Harry told me we should just go on the ferry but I refused because if such a long line. So then I got the motor of the boat going until midway and Harry was going crazy. But then I was able to reach someone to get us out of there." I explained.
"Hmm. Alright Jennifer. You got him out safely as you always do. Tell you the truth I would think you'd quit by now with Harry on your hands." Paul said.
"Oh no. Harry's great." I said.
"I could tell." Paul said chuckling.
Huh? Oh well. I went to the elevator and reached our floor. Harry was there with the guards still clutching him. They released him when they saw me.
"He wanted to go back down for you." one of the guards said. They walked away leaving me and a blushing Harry.
"It's okay. Nobody's mad at anybody." I told him.
"I just don't want you to get in trouble." He said with his hands in his pockets.
"C'mon. I think you should go take a quick nap before the show." I told him leading him down the hall to our room.
He changed into some sweats and crawled into bed. I changed out of my boots with wedges into bunny slippers. Freedom. I sat down on the couch and searched for the TV remote. When I found it behind the sofa, I found Harry sitting on the couch.
"I can't sleep." He said like a child.
"Why not?" I asked sitting next to him.
"I'm worried. What if I mess up one of the songs? What if I slip off stage? What if I miss a note? What if-"
"Shh." I held a finger to his lips. "There are too many ifs in the world. You'll do fine."
He smiled. " I think you're more confident of me than I am of myself."
"You think too much about it. If you see it like I do that you're an incredibly talented boy you'll do fine." I said.
He blushed a little and looked down trying to hide his face. "Thanks."
"No problem. You're my friend Harry." I said.
"Oh." He said a little disappointed.
"Do you not want me to be your friend?" I asked a bit insulted.
"No. It's not like that. I just...." He began.
"What?" I asked.
"I was hoping we were......best friends." He said after a pause.
"Well we are." I smiled.
He smirked back.
"Now you should be getting some rest for the concert." I told him.
"Can you sleep next to me?" He asked.
"But Harry-" I stopped when I saw his puppy dog eyes. "Ugh. Fine."
"C'mon."
Harry crawled into bed and I followed. He scooted close up to me so I was warm near his body. He wrapped his arms around me.
"Much better." He said making my cheeks go red.
I closed my eyes and instantly fell asleep.
