Ice-cream day-dreams

Noah's POV

We were eating our festive ice creams at the brain freeze which were pink to celebrate Valentine's Day despite it still being a week away. Emma was discussing how glad she was that the city finally had something to look forward too since the invasion six months ago with me correcting her that we had Christmas less than two months ago as well as thanks giving before that.

"Yeah, but there was still so much damage and repairs to do, not to mention injuries that people got that were still healing. People are better now and we have so much more rebuilt that this is the first holiday we all get to enjoy properly!" Her argument was solid. My lack of a decent response did however allow me the necessary opening to off-handedly mention her potential attraction to a certain similarly colour teammate of ours...

"Well you and Troy would obviously prefer this holiday. It's your colours. You and Troy have Valentine's Day, Jake could have st Patrick's day and half of Christmas if he wanted, Gia takes thanks giving and what do I have.... Blue! Love is in the air and you two are literally the air rangers of our team. I get that you love to celebrate Em but it's not that big a deal. It's just one dumb day." Ha! I have managed to give Emma and Troy another reason that they belong together without them really realising it yet as well as stir up some conflicting emotions. I wouldn't normally be this abrupt with them but it had to be done. Besides, Valentine's Day is just a corporate ploy to make people spend more money.

Emma's POV

I had no come back to Noah judgement. He was, as usual, completely correct. He took a smug lick of his ice cream as he looked down at me and Troy. I looked to Troy for help but was greeted with the same dumbfounded stair that I had. We both then looked back to Noah after a few moments of processing what just happened and attempting to come up with a comeback in vain. With nothing else to say, we both licked our ice creams in sync and surrendered to our genius friend and teammate.

Troy's POV

Wow. We just get served by Noah. Remind me never to get in his bad said. Judging from the looks on Jake and Gia's faces, they were just as surprised as we were. As I replayed the whole conversation in my head, trying to process that information overload, my mind settled on one section in particular, 'you and Troy would obviously prefer this holiday.' He paused for a split second too long for my liking. Was he implying that me and Emma would prefer the most romantic holiday in the year... Unfortunately I wouldn't get that answer as Noah then suddenly picked up his bag and left without saying a word. Naturally we all followed him, mostly out of fear of what he was up to but particularly due to the fact that we were all still processing what just happened and didn't know what else to do.

Noah's POV

They've been starting at me for five minutes now....

This is getting creepy. Are they honestly that shocked that I can smack talk that they physically can't process it?

I decided to just leave and see if they would follow, hoping it would be enough to break them from their obvious trance. It worked.

"What the hell Noah! You can't just walk away from us like that!" Jake was thankfully more focused on the fact that I had left them and four slightly angry friends running after me was much easier to handle than the frozen bodies I was dealing with moments before.

"Well you guys were starting at me like four or five minutes!" I retaliated. "It was either leave or slap you all and I know Gia would have slapped me back twice as hard and I would rather stay away from that thank you very much." I was angry at Jake for getting angry at me but I don't stay angry for long and was calming down quickly allowing my first statement of them starting to take prominence in their minds.

"We were starting at you for five minutes!" Troy was obviously confused but I think most of that was more directed at himself than anyone else.

"Yeah and it was getting unsettlingly," I calmly replied.

"Sorry Noah, I guess your still so full of surprises that we weren't really expecting it." Gia was acting very sweet, clearly trying to make up for making me uncomfortable.

Now Gia was making me feel bad. I looked over to Emma who was stood slightly behind Troy probably afraid that something else she would say would prompt the same response though she hid it well if she felt it at all."It's ok sorry if I upset you guys. Especially you Emma, I know you just love seeing everyone happy."

"It's ok," she stated obviously cheering up immediately, "why don't we all go back to the base and see if there's any way we can help Tensou?" She asked trying to change the subject and think of a better activity for the group to do as Earnie's was now a bit too awkward for at leat 20-30 minutes.

"Ok, sounds good" was the general consensus and we all started to head to HQ but as we were leaving, I couldn't help but notice how Troy was looking rather concerned at Emma. My plan was taking effect nicely even if it was not my original first step but progress is progress.
