I tossed and turned in bed. I just couldn't sleep peacefully.
Probably because of the nightmares. I closed my eyes and found myself...in a house? It seemed so different but familiar at the same time.
A door slammed. Voices and screaming.
Then it went silent. Rain began to fall and it was nighttime.
A woman wearing a cloak walked towards McDuck Manor, a basket in her arms.
A basket with something, no...someone inside.
I looked over her shoulder. It was a baby me.
She put the basket on the doorstep, pulling her hood off before hugging the baby me close and sighing.
Grandma Matilda, I mouthed.
"I'm sorry, darling," she apologized, stroking my hair. "This is for the best. Your Uncle Scrooge will be able to provide for you what...your parents couldn't."
"Gama?" the baby babbled.
Grandma Matilda set the baby me down into the basket, giving the baby one last sorrowful look.
"I'm sorry, Julianna; I hope you can forgive me."
She rang the doorbell and ran away, but I gave chase. But it was pointless; the memory simply vanished into thin air.
"No! No, please! I need to know! Why'd they leave me?! Someone tell me!"
I fell to my knees, the rain wiping away my tears. "Please, I need to find them..."
Then, darkness.
I woke up in a cold sweat, one hand clutching my necklace. I took out the crumbled family picture Uncle Scrooge found.
"Don't worry, you guys," I whispered. "I'll find you, I promise."
