The Impossible Three

(Julie's POV)

I was still resting in bed, looking up at the ceiling when I felt a jolting thump underneath me. I jumped up and ran to the window to see...a giant Aztec android?!

"Crap, crap, crap, CRAP!" I muttered, climbing out the window and running over to my older brother and Cole.

"What the heck happened?!" I shouted, dodging the robot's attempt to grab me.

"Don't know, but we have to do something before that thing tears Scrooge and Della apart! Look!" my boyfriend yelled, pointing to my uncle and cousin trying their best to evade capture. I gasped as the android reached out to snatch Uncle Scrooge, and, against my better judgement, I ran to him.

"UNCLE SCROOGE! LOOK OUT!" I screamed, pushing him out of the way.

The good news? Uncle Scrooge was safe.

The bad news? The robot grabbed me instead. I felt my lungs tighten as the robot started to squeeze me so hard that it made an anxiety attack feel like nothing.

I coughed and winced in pain. This might not be a mess I could get out of.

(3rd person POV)

"JULIE!" Cole and Josh called out. 

"Ah, phooey! This is all my fault!" Della screeched, pulling at her hair.

"Notice nobody's sayin' it ISN'T!" Cole growled before noticing Josh. "Dude, you good?"

Josh didn't answer as his face turned red and he began to pant. A green streak formed in his hair and a green aura engulfed his body. This made his outfit turn from a white T-shirt and green jacket into a brown shirt, a dark green trench coat with mud towards the bottom edges, and army green combat boots. His eyes turned green as energy swirled around his fists. 

"NOBODY. MESSES. WITH. MY. SISTER!" he bellowed as he willed for chunks of earth to rise and chucked them at the robot, making it stumble backwards. 

Cole snapped his fingers as an idea struck him. "Dude, make me some earth platforms, quick!"

"Why do you-?"

"Just DO it!"

Josh complied, angling them as Cole started to parkour up to the robot left arm. Once Cole reached the robot left forearm, he used a crowbar as a lever to pry open the metal fingers. He grabbed Julie's hand and lifted her up to the robot's shoulder. 

"Jules, ya got your sword on you?!"

She snickered. "Dumb question, babe!" Julie exclaimed, pulling out a silver blade. They nodded before shouting "YIPEE KAY YAY, JERK WAD!" and plunging both their respective weapons into the robot's eyes.

The robot's vision blurred, it began to malfunction, parts of it beginning to give way from its body. Julie's grip on the robot slipped and she began to fall. But as she closed her eyes and braced for impact...she instead felt an arm around her waist and opened her eyes.

Cole smiled sheepishly. He'd grabbed Julie's sword and used its hilt as a platform to stand on and caught her just before she hit the ground. Julie sighed with relief as the two made their way to the ground.

Josh, who'd finally calmed down his powers, ran over to Julie. Still clad in his earth outfit, he tackled her into a hug, making her laugh and topple over. Cole gave a sad smile and observed the brother and sister embracing...something he missed with his own sister.

Josh wordlessly extended his hand to the teenage boy as an invitation to join the hug. Cole grabbed Josh's hand before the young man yanked Cole into the hug and the three embraced.

As the rest of the family headed back to the mansion, Cole and Josh stayed back. "I don't get it...why?" Cole asked.

Josh shrugged with a smirk. "Hey, we both want to keep Julie safe...I wasn't sure about that until I saw your determination to save her today. Heck, I'm sure lots of guys would've ran away or wouldn't have done anything."

Cole felt a hand on his shoulder. "But you're different; you SAVED my sister. You care about her as much as I do...and that's all I want for her. Someone who can protect her and look after her when I can't. No matter what, Cole, and no matter where your relationship with her goes, you'll ALWAYS be welcome here."

Cole rolled his eyes and kept quiet, as if those words didn't mean the world to him.
