(Julie's POV)

After the Shadow War, I was laying down on my bed, trying my best to go to sleep, but I just couldn't. I was too worried about my brother.

Why had he taken a bullet for me? And what had happened to Mom? If he knew, then what else was he hiding from me?

My thoughts were interrupted by three quick taps on my windows. I looked up to see Cole, on the roof right next to my room's window. I giggled and pushed the window up to let him in.

"Hey, Jules; I just saw the news on TV," he asked, taking my hands in his. "Are you okay?"

I giggled. "Did you seriously just drive all the way from Goldie's house in Dawson to see if I was okay?"

He shrugged, making a zipping gesture across his beak. "I'll never tell. But really, Jules; are you okay? You know you can tell me anything."

I sighed. "My brother is in the hospital. He...he jumped in front of me when Magica fired a wave of magic at me and Kylee, and took the hit."

I leaned my head against his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "I get it," he replied, making my head shoot up. "You-you don't know what's gonna happen and...it's scary."

There was a break of silence.

"You've been looking for her, haven't you?" I muttered, playing with my sleeve.

He nodded. "Yeah. There's something you've got to realize, Jules...us big brothers, we'll mess with our sisters all the time. But, when it comes down to the wire, we'll do anything for them. No matter what happens to us, we'll put everything on the line just to know they're safe."

"Are you talking about Josh or Grace?" I teased, elbowing him.

He chuckled. "Probably both. Oh, I almost forgot..." he said, pulling out a gift. "Happy three-year friendaversary, Julie!"

"Oh gosh, it's midnight already?" I asked, checking my alarm clock. Sure enough, it was 12:01am.

"October 23rd," he announced with a smile, handing me the gift. "The day we first met."

I unwrapped the present carefully, and opened the box. I gasped.

It was a purple and blue beaded bracelet. "Oh, Cole, it's beautiful," I breathed, slipping it onto my wrist and admiring it. "Let me get your gift."

I pulled open my dresser drawer and took out a small box. Cole opened it and pulled out the silver guitar pick.

"Woah," he said. "Jules, did you make this?"

"Sorta," I admitted. "I found a stone on one of our adventures, chiseled it into a pick, and painted it silver." I pointed to the pick. "Check out the engraving."

He smiled as he read the etched numbers. "10/23/14."

Our beaks were about five inches apart when we heard a crash and looked out the window to see Mrs. Beakley stepping out of the limo and towards the mansion.

"I'd better go," Cole said. Before he climbed out the window, he turned to me.

"Hey, are you ever gonna tell your uncle how we really met?"

I smirked and zipped my beak. "I'll never tell."

Cole managed to sneak down the siding of the mansion before I heard a knock on my door. I quickly shut the window. "Come in."

Mrs. Beakley entered my room, clearly surprised that I was still awake. However, the look on her face seemed like a mix of emotions.

One of which I could tell was sadness.

"Dear, would you please get dressed? Mr. McDuck wants you to come down to the hospital to see Joshua."

"Of course," I answered, pulling on a pair of jean shorts. "How's he doing?"

Mrs. Beakley was silent for a minute. "Dear, I believe it's better for you to see for yourself."
