Chapter Five

I sat in Lydia's Bedroom as she braided my hair for school. Even though it seems like this is such a small gesture, in this moment I actually felt like a normal teenage girl. With Scott becoming a werewolf and all the weird things happening with Derek I have learned to appreciate these simple little things more than I dd before. I just have this gut feeling like things are just going to get more complicated and weird.

"Do you like this?" Lydia said as she handed me her phone to show a picture of my hair.

I nodded and turned around to face her. "I love it, thanks Lyds."

I walked over to the mirror looking my outfit over. I ended up going simple today, no dresses or heels. Just this blue ombre tank top, some ripped up skinny jeans, and my black converse. I was in no mood to go to school today, skipping and going shopping with my sister sounded a lot better, just to have a normal day with her.

"So, why didn't you want to come with us on our group date?" Lydia questioned curling some more of her hair.

I chuckled, "Cause I didn't have a date." I said like it was obvious.

"That one friend of yours-" She paused I'm guessing trying to think of his name.

"Stiles, Lydia" I said rolling my eyes. "His name is Stiles..."

"Right, him. I think you guys would be a cute couple, I mean you already hang out all the time. Being a couple would just add some fun stuff to the mix." She said shrugging, looking at me through the mirror.

"Lydia he has always had the biggest crush on you first off, and he is my best friend, practically my brother."

She sighed and spun around in her chair so she was actually looking at me. "Auttie. We are two of the most popular girls in school, regardless if you hang out with those boys and stuff-" I gave her a look, "Anyways, you could have found a date. You could literally have any guy you wanted, even though I think you should go for someone who is higher up on the popularity scale, you could have anyone. I know you want to have a relationship again, sweetie."

She was right. I did miss having a boyfriend. Don't get me wrong I had the two best guy friends in the world, but it was nice to have another special guy in my life. Scott and Stiles love when I don't have a boyfriend though, more time for them, and let me tell you...they are very stingy with their time. Lydia and I definitely have gone for the athletes a lot in the past, my last couple of boyfriends have been on the lacrosse team which she obviously approved of. I look at Lydia and Jackson and they just seem to be really happy together, even though Jackson can be a huge douche bag, I see how he treats Lydia when nobody else is around. They truly love each other. I wanna find something special, I wanna find love.

I sighed bringing my knees up to my chest. "Being single isn't a horrible thing." I said looking at the time on my phone. "And as much as I would love to continue this conversation, we need to leave." I got up grabbing my bag and headed out of her room. I could hear her groan from inside her bedroom, and then the sound of clanking heels sounded behind me. Maybe she'll just drop the topic and the car ride to school won't be too unbearable.
