Patrick's POV
I put as much pressure as I can on the two left legs and then I go crashing down the ground.
From that point everything seems to happen in slow motion.
The dagger gets closer and closer to Alex's heart and I get up and fast as I can, fueled by adrenaline and started going towards Maya. I unstrap one of the chairs arms from mine and as soon as I reach Maya I stab it through her. She can't leave. I've got a hold on her. She turns around slowly and I take the other chair arm and shove it through her heart.
I watched the light fade from Maya's eyes as she sinks down to the ground and I here the clanging of a dagger on the floor.
I drop the chair arms and then rush over to Alex. She's breathing and barely conscious. I take off my jacket and over her naked body with it.
She flinches at first
"Alex it's okay, Maya is gone it's only me. It's just a jacket." I tell her and she seems to calm down a little bit.
After I put the jacket on her I rush over and undo Phil's and Pete's ties. As soon as Phil is released he rushes over to Alex and starts to try and stop the bleeding and Pete says he's going to go find our stuff so we can get out of here.
I help Phil with Alex and we get the bleeding to stop and she seems okay. Phil's keeps talking to her to make her stay awake. She can't fall asleep. She might not wake back up.
After about thirty minutes Pete comes back with the police on the phone.
"They're tracing the call," Pete said "they'll be here in bit."
He told me and Phil. Pete doesn't get off the phone with them until they here with an ambulance.
Everyone rushes in questions are being asked and they're rushing Alex to the hospital. Everything is happening so fast and all at once. It's over whelming .
Things calm down eventually though. We're all taken to the hospital to get checked up to make sure everything is okay. Alex though is going to take a while to recover, but physically she'll be okay. Mentally know one will know how she is until she wakes up.
Phil's by her side the whole time. He only leaves to use the bathroom and then he comes back. He only eats if we bring him food, but even then he hardly eats it. Dan came over once he heard what had happened. He was glad Phil was okay. He's the only person that could coax Phil into eating anything.
Me and Pete were really happy Dan was here to help Phil.
After a week of waiting Alex finally wakes up.
It was around three in the morning and I had dozed off on Pete's shoulder when I heard her speak.
"Phil," she says her tired voice cracking on every syllable.
He shoots up from where his head was laying on the bed.
"Alex," he whispers "you're awake!"
"Yeah," she tries to move and get up to grab the cup of water on the table next to her, but then stops as it causes her pain
"No, Alex don't move. A lot has happened to you. You just need to rest." he says slowly laying her back down onto her pillow "I'm going to call the nurse in." he says handing her a glass of water. Not letting her take the whole thing by herself, for fear she might drop it. She takes a couple of sips and then Phil takes the water and sets it back down on the table and presses the button that calls the nurse in.
I wake up Pete and let him know she's awake.
Her attention is drawn over to where me and Pete are and as she says my name a nurse walks in with the doctor.
They ask her loads of questions and no signs point to her having any memory loss or major problems like that, but as they ask her about what she remembers happening she just shakes her head and says she doesn't want to talk about it.
Phil holds her hand comforting her letting her know it's going to be okay. As the doctor and nurse leave, the doctor motions for me to follow him.
I walk out and close the door behind me.
"She seems okay," he starts "but her has suffered a lot. I would recommend her seeing a therapist, some who she can talk to about what happened when she's ready. I don't want to force it, cause I don't know what that'll do to her. She's been through a lot and what she needs is a place to get her started again. A place easy for her to recover and not feel pressured into things she's not ready for. She'll need to stay here for a couple of more days, but afterwards she is free to go home."
I nod in understanding. "okay," I say "thank you Doctor"
He nods and turns away and I walk back into the room.
"So what the doctor say?" Phil asked
"She can come home in a few days." I say smiling
His eyes light up and so do hers. This next year isn't going to be easy, but we can find a way to make her feel safe again.
~two years later~
"I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Lester," the man said "you may kiss now."
Phil leans in at the same time Alex does and as they kiss, I see them both smile. They both look so happy.
Me and Pete look at each other and then back at them. Then to Dan, best man at his best friend's wedding. Two years ago we would have never thought this would happen, but it did. They got married and they're happy.
We're happy.
She was a nervous wreck the first 8 months, but me, Pete, and Phil helped her through it. She did eventually see a therapist, and that helped her a lot. She got better. We're still recovering from what happened two years ago. I don't think we'll ever fully heal. Yes we have scars. They will always be there, but we've learned to live with them.
Things will never be the same, and I never expected them to be the same, but at least now we've reaches some sense of normality.
We're moving on with our lives. We're turning a page and ending a chapter. This is the beginning of a whole new adventure.
