Chapter 36
Warning
*Sexual Harassment*
His hand is on my bare thigh as he drives. I can only think about how he was inside of me a minute ago. Wayne just pulled down my shorts and barely hesitated until he-
"Wayne?" I turned my head to him.
He squeezed my thigh once. "Yes, Bethany?"
"Did you put on a condom earlier?"
"No," he answered, "but, I didn't finish."
"We still need to be safe, though."
"I'm clean, it's fine."
"Wayne." I warned him. He met my eyes for a moment, gulped, and nodded.
"I'm sorry."
His phone started ringing, connected to his car. Mom, it read. Wayne tried to ignore it.
"You can answer it, I'll be quiet." I nudged his elbow. Wayne sighed. He removed his hand from my skin only to click answer, then it hurried back to its same spot.
"Hello, Mother."
"Hey, kid." His mom's greeting made him bow his head a little. "Peter and I aren't going to be home tonight, it's a-"
"Work thing?"
"Yeah." Silence filled the air. Wayne started to go slower down the road. I put my hand over his.
"I'll be fine." Wayne reassured his mother, even though I'm not sure she would have asked.
"Oh, I've been meaning to ask you something."
Wayne sat up straighter. "Y- Yes?"
"How's she doing?" Wayne and I looked at each other with mutual confusion. "Bethany."
"I don't understand."
"Oh, Peter!" She hollered out of the phone. "She is the sweetest little girl! So kind, and you just know she does amazing in school-"
I looked down and blushed. I don't think I've heard my mom talk about me like that. But, it seems like Wayne hadn't either. He had a paused expression on, like he had too many emotions and they were all over powering him and he had no choice but to buffer.
"Hey, Mom?" Wayne stopped her. "I'm gonna take a shower, I gotta go."
"Alright," she rushed her words along, "bye!" She hung up before he could say anything back.
Wayne took his hand off my thigh. I folded my hands in my lap. I don't want that little phone call to ruin our night.
I wish I knew what he was thinking. I don't dare ask, I do not want to make him angry.
He pulled over. "We can walk from here, it might be a little crowded."
I nodded and watched him unbuckle and get out of the car. I took a deep breath and reached for my door handle, but before I could, Wayne had opened it for me. I smiled bashfully, took his hand, and got out.
As soon as he shut the door, I was up against it. He grabbed my face and pushed his lips on mine. It was soft, but necessary, like we needed a reminder about what really matters. Us.
After he pulled away, he went in for one past peck before grinning at my stunned face. Wayne slid his hands down my arms and held both of my hands.
"Tonight is just for us." He kissed my knuckle. "No one else. Just this."
I nodded, lost in his enchanting eyes. He put an arm around my waist, and we walked to the spot. It was dark on the sidewalk, only a few street lights ensuring our safety.
