CHAPTER TWO : THE MASK REMOVED

PRESENT TIME : MUSHROOM KINGDOM

Third POV

Mario sat on the roof again, in the past he had come here with Luigi to escape the T-pose virus and nearly losing him in the process. The memory brought a shiver to his spine, slowly reminding him of all the possible deaths his brother nearly experienced. His cold eyes turned to the sun once more, attempting to burn out those nightmares. Perhaps it's time to stop playing dum now The thought rattled him out of his stupor. Why would I stop now? That would change everything! They would hate me for it! The thoughts kept haunting him as he tried his best to ignore them. Much has changed for our plumber since Axol passed, he stopped eating and became thinner and has refused to remove his clothing for even the most delectable of spaghetti. His friends have noticed this, so he distanced himself from them to stop them from helping. Having finally had enough of the sun, he gets up and walks toward the castle entrance. As he opens the door to the stairs he hears them, his friends. They sound worried, even Saiko and Bob seem to be in on the conversation. Not wanting to hear it, he sneaks past them as he guns it for the second set of stairs. He arrives at the bottom floor, tired from sprinting. Realising his lack of exercise is tiring him out, he attempts a final sprint to the exit. He runs through the hall, sweat on his brow as he relentlessly trudged through the hall to reach the door. Upon finally reaching it, he wiggles the handle to find the door locked. TYPICAL He thinks as he tries to find the keys. After searching for a few minutes with zero to no luck, he attempts to break the door down by force. Taking steps backwards and clenching his muscles, Mario let's out a yell as he charges at the door, tearing a hole through it as he comes to a stop. The pain hinders his movements as he hissed from the impact. While adjusting to the pain he hears someone shout his name from down the hall. SHIT Mario panics as he hears multiple footsteps coming from the new hole in the door, he ignores the pain in his shoulder and runs as quickly as possible to avoid his friends. The voices of concern grow quieter and quieter as he runs at inhuman speeds through the woods leading to his house. Upon arrival Mario collapses onto the ground, breathing heavily. His lungs burning from the pain of over exhaustion mixing with the pain from his shoulder. Laying there for a few minutes, Mario noticed something from the corner of his eye. IS THAT A SEVERED ARM? He gets up and walks to the rotting and mangled limb. Upon inspecting the limb, he makes the conclusion that it was just debris from killing of Zero for good. Tossing the arm into the trash can next to his mailbox, he opens the door to his house and closes it, opting to stay there until his friends stop worrying.

This took some effort to come up with but I finally have an introduction to every key character in the book that isn't a villain(yet). But still, have you all noticed the images at the top.
