"Desti?" Mario called for his dead companion. "What is it Mark?" Desti responded. After sighing at the name, Mario proceeded to ask a question that would decide his actions from now on. "Do you know about the tale of the wanderer?" He asked. He turned his head to Desti as she shrugged in response. "Well then, let me tell you a story about a man who lost everything due to his own incompetence." Mario stated in lament. In a normal situation of banter, Desti would ignore the plumber and his stories, but something told her that this was important. "There once was a man who lived in a village. He had made friends all over and had done so many great things for everyone around him. But the man was scared. Not by those around him, but by what would happen if they stayed around him." Desti shifted her head towards Mario as he said that, a tear slipping from his eye as he continued.
"In fact, he was so horrified by this thought that he left the village and lived in the woods for just about three months. When he returned, he bewildered at the ruins of his beloved village as he fell to the ground, unaware of the shadows approaching from behind. The man woke up in a dark room, he couldn't see anything around him. He hadn't realised how much pain he was in until he had seen his left arm, or what was left of it. The arm was nothing but chants of flesh and bone hanging from a skew and crushed elbow, his wrist and hand nowhere to be seen. Of course, it was a lot more difficult to see as he felt his vision was off, only to feel an empty socket when he had reached using his damaged right hand to feel his eye. He screamed and screamed, the pain of moving his damaged jaw and missing appendage tortured him for quite a while, and eventually he was silent. Sitting around in the dark. After an unknown amount of time had passed. He rose from the ground as his mutilated foot landed unsteadily on the ground. And he wandered... for as long as he could... he felt nothing but pain as he searched for redemption to cleanse him of his sins. But he never found it. And to this day he wanders... and wanders... and wanders... into oblivion."
Mario stopped talking after that. Desti thought about the story. She had learned something new about Mario that day. He fears only the dangers his friends have deal with simply by being around him. Desti knew what she had to do! She had to help Mario realise he wasn't a hazard! This was now her mission. To make sure that Mario did not become another wanderer...
