I AM LOST

CHAPTER TEN : A REVELATION

PRESENT TIME : MUSHROOM KINGDOM GRAND HOSPITAL
THIRD POV

Mario was currently unconscious in a hospital bed in the almost burnt down hospital, none knew how the fire started but all knew that it had taken many lives. Mario's friends had visited his unconscious body earlier in the day. Night was soon approaching and Mario was starting to stir.
Mario saw nothing, his were in fact closed. Deciding he was no longer in need of sleep, he forced his eyes open, the light of the hospital lights burning into his retinas. He closed his eyes in instinctive pain from both the light and his unbearable headache. After adjusting to the pain, Mario opened his eyes once more. The room was coated in white tiles. There was an IV standing next to him, the cord from said IV entering into his right wrist. Mario carefully removed the cord before removing the heart monitor from his body. Mario was not dumb. He knew he was in a hospital, the overbearing smell of chemicals and sanitation being a dead giveaway to him. Deciding to cut his visit to the hospital short, Mario attempted to stand from his bed. As he did, he went towards the door before feeling a breeze near his "meatballs" surprised by the sudden exposure to cold near his prized noodle, Mario looked down to see he was in a hospital gown. Mario was not really a hypocrite, but he felt that the gown was a violation of his privacy (even though it is indeed incredibly ironic). Deciding partial nudity was not his style, Mario moved towards the door again. His goal however was different as now he wanted to find his clothes rather than to leave. He slowly walked through the hallway to look for a wall map. His luck was helping him once again as he saw a convenient sign on the wall next to an elevator. After reading the map, Mario walked through the halls to reach the storage room. Upon reaching said storage room, Mario saw a drawer with his name on it. Being a health hazard, peach had it installed to prepare for the most likely usual visit from Mario when he was behaving stupid.
Mario took his clothes and hat from the box and changed into them, discarding the gown in a nearby trashcan. Mario was about to leave but stopped when he heard a call from one of the boxes, this one being labelled "JEBUS" Confused by the boxes call, Mario approached the box with maximum caution. As he moved closer, he could hear his friends in agony. He was worried now. Upon reaching the box, Mario carefully removed the cover to discover a discoloured halo, tainted a black with a red glow. The hall called to him with promises of peace and to no longer worry about his existence as a hazard. Tempted by its calls, Mario touched the halo. The halo glowed before lifting into the air, Mario letting go instinctively as it did. The halo moved towards him, Mario was frozen from fear of what he had done. The halo moved towards his head and pushed his hat off before hovering above his head, the glow fading. At first Mario was scared but soon realised that the halo had no intent of harming him. Confused from the encounter, he picked up his hat and pocketed it inside of his overalls and moved towards the door leading to the hall. Mario moved in silence, wanting to leave as quickly as possible to avoid detection. Upon leaving the elevator he had taken to the ground floor, Mario was met by a running computer left on by some idiot. He didn't mind it though, he could discharge himself from the hospital legally now. He moved to the computer and scrolled through the patient list, one caught his eye as he scrolled. AXOL ********** He knew that name well, and according to this computer he was here on the day the hospital burnt down! Mario decided to look through the footage from the camera feed of that day only to be horrified seconds later. He didn't know if he was watching Zero or Axol but that didn't really matter. He was responsable for this so he will have to take care of it! Using the feed, he tracked Axol's movements throughout the building. Having found what he needed, Mario exited the hospital. He roamed through the streets before finding a subway, the perfect getaway from a crime. Mario entered the subway to investigate further. He stopped when he saw that inkopolis square was a stop on the board. Deciding he would start at Axol's origins, Mario boarded the train to inkopolis.

MINUTES LATER

Mario was getting off of the train he had taken and made his way out of the subway. He had stopped at a clothes store as soon as one came into sight. He had bought a long brown trench coat to cover his attire. No one has really seen Mario's chocolate hair outside of his friends, the halo filling his look of someone different from himself. Agreeing with his new attire, Mario made his way towards Axol's old apartment. He needed to talk with Melony. After all... he had a revelation.
