"Shit! They're still behind me!" Kageyama cursed under her breath, slashing another flaming bat with her sword. Why had she decided to actually try to enter the hole that connected this world to the Flame World the night before the exam? Don't ask her, because she doesn't even know on why it was a good idea. However, let's rewind to see what happened.

"Touko! Surely, you're not thinking of actually going to investigate the hole tonight!" Kurai exclaimed as soon as he saw her strapping the katana she had bought a week ago to her waist. The setter cursed under her breath. She had expected that the shifter had already gone to bed, but she had forgotten that Kurai is more of a night person than she is. He preffers staying awake when night falls, and normally sleeps through the day.
"I'm not going to investigate Kurai. I'm going to enter it." she declared, putting on a big, black hoodie that covered her waist. Kurai widened his eyes. What?! She was going on her own?! She couldn't do that! He couldn't let her do that! It was too dangerous. Besides, she had her entrance exam tomorrow morning, and she had to get up early!
"What?! Alone?! No way! That's too dangerous!" he told her, quick to be on his feet. She slid on her gloves.
"Sorry Kurai, but I can't bring you with me this time. It's too dangerous for you." she sternly said, putting on her face mask. Kurai gritted his teeth. She was doing it again. She was putting others before her.
"It is for you too! I can't let you go on your own!" he retorted, trying to reason with her. She, however, shook her head.
"Sorry Kurai. I promise that I'll come back, okay?" she said, holding out her pinky finger. He stared at it for a few seconds before returning the gesture.
The setter then opened the window. She got on it, but then turned to look at Kurai. Lowering her mask, she sent him a warm smile. And then she leapt forward. Kurai walked to the window, seeing the raven landing on a house's roof. He then closed the window. "...You better come back..." he mumbled, sitting on the floor, right next to the bed.

Kageyama leapt from roof to roof. 'Sorry Kurai... But it's for your own safety...' she thought. The setter wanted to make sure that the shifter wasn't going to get hurt. She had grown attached to him. This was very serious, and she wanted to avoid any injured people at the moment. She finally arrived, but then widened her eyes, quickly hiding. "Are you sure that it's safe to investigate?" she heard Emalf ask.
"Of course! Daddy said it was ok, so it's ok!" she recognized the other voice as Poemi. The setter clenched her fists. She noticed the several dogs surrounding the little girl. 'Poochs...' she thought. Those creatures that she summoned just to run away. A coward move.
"Why the heck does boss even want to conquer this world? There's no magic here, and the humans are useless." Emalf scoffed, kicking a pebble on the ground. He found it annoying on how the ruler of the Flame World had been so adamant on going here. But who was he to say anything to him?
"How dumb are you?" Poemi deadpanned, making Emalf flinch "Obviously, Daddy wants their technology, or whatever it's called. He says that it's powerful, and it will get us an advantage against the Gray Village." she stated. The mauve haired demon lowered his head. He didn't want to do this anymore. Both him and Rieta. But he didn't want to face the anger of his lord.
"Besides! Since those four brats are dead, it's going to be easier!" she added. His eye twitched when she called the four girls that stopped them 'brats'. They were not brats.
"You can do that on your own. I'd rather stay low." he spoke, leaning against the wall. Poemi looked at him.
"Aw, come on! You've been like this ever since we lost against those brats! Cheer up!" she whined "I know! How about we kill some humans? That'll definitely cheer you up!" she grinned. Emalf couldn't take it much longer. He had to do something. He was tired. He wanted to just leave.
"NO!" he shouted, making both Kageyama and Poemi flinch "For the last fucking time, I'm staying low! You've almost killed a person! If it wasn't for Rieta warning you that someone was coming, you would have been caught! Control your fucking psycopathic tendencies, alright?!" he snapped. Kageyama covered her mouth, trying not to make any sound. What the heck was that? She hadn't seen Emalf so... angry. Heck, she could even hear the sadness and tiredness in his voice. Before Poemi could talk back, however, the setter felt a sharp pain in her back. Looking around, she saw a flaming bat.
"...Shit." she managed to utter, quickly getting up and kicking the bat down. 'FUCK! YOU'RE AN IDIOT TOUKO!' she thought.
