Chapter 6

Kelsie's P.O.V
I never expected that from Aiden last night, like honestly I thought he would always be a rude, disrespectful 16 year old.

But I see more than what he shows the world, I feel like there's just something that has happened to him that caused him to act the way he acts.

I don't believe he was always like that.

"Madi!", my brother call for what seemed like a while.

"Yea", I looked up he was coming in my room.

"You good?", he sat on the bed.

"Yea, I'm fine"

"You zoned out"

"Just thinking"

"About?"

"Nothing important, anyways how was your date", I dragged out the last part.

"Not a date, but it was kinda fun", I laughed.

"What'd you do?"

"Well we went to the movies then got ice cream, I did get to talk to her alone for awhile"

"Cool, just it take slow, ok"

"Yea, I know"

"So, what are you going to do now?", I asked.

"I mean it is Saturday, wanna watch a movie?"

"Yess"

"Race ya", he said and rushed downstairs.

"Hey, you cheated!", I yelled running after him.

"Cheater", I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Snail"

"How rude", I said placing my hand on my chest.

"Yea your right, snails are way faster that you", I took a pillow from the couch and threw it at him.

He just laughed and caught it.

Just then the door bell rang, "I'll get it", I rushed to the door.

"Hey"

"Aiden, what are you doing here?"

"Ouch"

"Not to be mean or anything but..."

"Yea I get it, I just came to bring your phone, you left it in my car"

"Oh, I didn't even realise it was gone", I said taking it from him.

"I mean, you never really realise something is gone until you need it"

"Yea, that's true", I chuckled.

"Well, I should...uh, get going"

"You wanna watch a movie?", I asked before I could shut myself up.

"Uh, won't your family mind"

"Its just me and my brother, I don't think he'll mind"

"Madi, what are doing so long?", Jay said coming to the door.

"Uh-"

"What's going on?", he said cutting me off.

"Well, um, could he stay for the movie?"

He looked at Aiden, "Mom and Dad will be home soon, not sure it's a good idea", he said plainly.

"Jay..."

"You know, it's fine, I'm just gonna go", Aiden replied.

"Aiden-"

"Madison, its fine", he smiled and walked away.

Jay walked inside.

"Why'd you lie?", I walked after him.

"What are you talking about?"

"You know mom and dad aren't coming until tonight"

"So"

"So, why'd you lie?"

"Madison, you just came here, which means you just met him and your willing to let a complete stranger into your house"

"He's not a stranger", I said softer.

"What's his last name?"
"When's his birthday?"
"What's his favourite color? huh"

I didn't know the answer to any of those.

"Yea ok", he walked upstairs.

Guess the movie's cancelled, I sighed.

Night
I went into Jay's room since he hasn't come out all day.

He was laying on his bed facing away from me but I knew he wasn't sleeping.

I heard movements before I came in.

I laid beside him facing the ceiling, and I kept silent hoping he'd say something.

"I'm sorry", he said after a while, turning on his back.

"For what?", I chuckled.

"I feel like I was a bit harsh"

"No, that's exactly what I needed to hear"

"Really", he said looking at me.

"I mean, I just met the dude", I sighed.

"I'm just trying to protect you"

"And you have been, I couldn't be any more grateful"

"Your my bestfriend, I don't wanna see you get hurt"

"Pain is life, you'll always be there for me but you can't protect me from life"

"Yea, your right", he looked back at ceiling.
"Hey Mads"

"Yea"

"I love you", I looked at him.

"I love you too, Jay"

Aiden's P.O.V
"So, her brother busted you", Miles tried to clarify.

"No, I could tell he didn't like me, though"

"I don't blame him", Ruby said and I gave him a look.
"Look all I'm saying is you should give him a reason to like you"

"By doing what?"

"I don't know, do what a gentleman would do?"

"Ok", I chuckled.

"I noticed you stopped smoking", Miles pointed out.

It's true, I haven't smoked since I met Madison. Maybe I do like her, I haven't liked a girl since before my dad died, I miss him so much.

After he died, it hurt me so much that I started treating people badly, drinking and well that led to smoking.

And I didn't think I could just stop.

I feel like an a**hole for how I treat my mom, but I couldn't help it, I felt like the world deserved to feel the hurt I felt.

"Earth to Aiden", Miles said snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yea"

"We lost ya there", Ruby stated.

"Yea, I'll be right back"

I went upstairs and knocked on my mother's door.

"Its open", she said.

"Hey mom"

"Hey, sweetie", she stopped folding clothes and looked at me.

"I'm sorry", she walked over to me and hugged me.
"I love you mom", I felt the tears in my eyes.

"I know, Aiden", she smiled at me.
"I love you too"

I hugged her again, this felt right, but I keep screwing up the things that felt right.
