Chapter 19

Next morning

I woke up slightly uncomfortable realizing I slept on the couch, with Aiden on the other end.

After we came home last night we ate ice cream and binge watched old Disney shows.

I got up and went to the kitchen to put some water in the kettle, then my brother came down.

"Morning Madi"

"Hey, how'd you sleep?"

"Surprisingly well"

"Why surprising?", I chuckled.

"Because Malia and I had quite a night, if you know what I mean"

"Ew stop, I did not need to hear that"

"What no, I just met her parents house for the first time, ya nasty"

"Then why'd you say it like that?"

"We did had quite a night, he dad is really scary"

"Shut up"

"So, what's going on with Aiden?", he asked glancing back at the living room where Aiden is still sleeping.

"He's healing"

"It's nice how you wanna help him"

"Well I care for him"

"That and you like him"

"What?... pshh... no", I blushed.

"Mhm", he replied not believing.

"Stop Jayden"

"Okay, I believe you", He said putting his arms up in surrender.

I rolled my eyes.

"So I'm guessing he's not going to school today"

"What?"

"You know, since he came to school drunk and all"

"You heard about that?"

"Everyone is talking about it"

"Do me a favor and don't tell mom"

"I gotchu, unless..."

"What?", I asked worried.

"I'm just kidding", he laughed.

"Bye Jay"

"Bye", he kissed my forehead and walked out, still laughing.

Now its time to beg my mom to let me stay home

I then went into my parents room, to see my mom getting ready.

"Hey mom"

"Hey hun, what's up"

"I was wondering if I could have stayed home with Aiden, you know just to help him out a bit"

"Okay"

"Wait what, that's it?"

"You want me to change my mind?"

"No ma'am"

"Just don't think of this as an excuse to get out of school"

"Of course not"

"He needs all the comfort and reassurance he can get, even if he doesn't know it. I remember when I lost my mom, all I wanted was for someone to be there for me. It's not easy losing someone, especially when its someone you really care for"

I sighed not having words to say.

"See ya later, okay hun", I nodded.

"Bye mom", she kissed my cheek then left.

I went back down stairs to see Aiden getting up. I went to the kitchen and prepared two cups of tea, then went in the living room.

"Morning sleeping beauty"

"Trust me, if I was in my bed right now, I would be asleep much longer"

"Tea?", I chuckled.

"Thanks", he said taking a cup out of my hand.

"How'd you sleep?", I asked sitting next to him.

"Perfectly fine with you by me"

"Shut up"

"Wait, why aren't you at school?", he asked like question just popped in his head.

"Oh I don't know, I had this dream that when I left you alone you went and got yourself drunk"

"ah okay, okay"

"So what's the plan for today?", he asked.

Just then the front door bursts open, showing Mike and the others.

"Madi. Talk. Now"

"No hello Madison, how is your morning going?"

"Hello Madison how is your morning going?"

"Fi-"

"Nobody cares"

"Now can you please tell us what's going on?"

Ryan and Ruby sat in the two seat chair and Miles sat next to me.

Hannah wanted to come but I forced her to go to school, cause she had a test.

"My mom died", Aiden blurted out and the room went silent.

"Oh my gosh, what?", Mike said his face filled with shock and sadness.

"It happened about two days ago, Madison and I found her on the floor", Aiden winced, like that day was painful to remember.

"Why didn't you call us?"

"It was all just too much, you guys had a right to know, we're sorry", I answered.

"Hey it's alright, we're here now", Ryan reassured.

"Yeah, we're here for you Aiden, Chloe was like a mom to all of us"

"Heck she even made me feel like her kid", I smiled remembering the short but lovely moments we had together.

"Thanks guys", Aiden croaked with tears in his eyes.

"Aww, c'mere", Miles wrapped Aiden and I in a hug, then Ryan and Ruby joined in.

"Do me a favor and never say that again", Aiden said with a croaked voice.

The squad stayed for awhile after the group hug then left.

It was night, all the lights were off and I thought I was the only one awake until I heard a knock on my door.

"Its open", I answered but not too loudly.

Then in peeked the head of Aiden. He slowly came in.

"Can I sleep in here tonight?", he whispered just enough for me to hear.

And that alone made my heart flutter. Those words made him sound like a baby and I just wanted to hug him so tightly.

"Yeah", I replied making room for him.

Even in the darkness I could see a smile on his face.

He closed the door and came next to me on the bed. Then I felt his arms around me and I snuggled into it.

"Just so you know your going to school tomorrow, and before you protest, I promise on my life that I won't do anything stupid"

"Okay", I whispered and smiled.
