"I'm not afraid of werewolves or vampires or haunted hotels, I'm afraid of what real human beings do to other real human beings."

Taraa's POV

It was the day of my meeting with Do-hyun and as directed by Mr. Man, I reached at his home on the designated time.

All the procedures were the same as before and after carrying them out, I came face to face with Do-hyun.

He looked the same as how I had seen him previously. Bags under his eyes, bent shoulders. He looked...tired.

Putting the telephone against my mouth, I asked, "How are you?"

He smiled at me from across the glass and replied, "Fine. What about you?"

"Me too."

Without wasting further time as it was still limited, I got to the point.

"So..." I trailed off, hesitating a bit.

"I know you want to know everything. Ask. I will answer." he directed.

"What happened after the night I escaped?"

"That man and woman were killed by my men." he replied but then added, "Don't you wanna know who were they actually?"

I nodded as I never understood why those two used to beat me like an animal.

"They were your teachers. Hired to teach you Korean as you didn't know the language." he replied and I was confused. "The other children that were kidnapped along with you...they were sent to different places. Most of them were sold at high prices to the rich families whose women didn't want to burden themselves with pregnancy. No one wanted you when they realised that they would have to teach you a language to communicate with them. So they realised that in order for you to be sold, you need to be taught. Hence, they ended up hiring teachers." he told.

"But...then why didn't they ever teach me?" I questioned.

"Daisy...its all corrupt. The longer they took to teach you, the longer they got money. And sometimes when they got scolded as you weren't making any progress, how would you of course, they took out their anger on you." he explained, a hurt expression on his face.

"I am sorry...I wasn't able to protect you properly." he added.

"No, no. What you did for me, I could never forget that. I owe you my life. I will forever remain thankful to you." I said, placing my hand on the glass.

We both were quiet for sometime and he must have noticed my hesitation as he said, "I know you have a lot of questions running through your mind. It's better if you ask them."

I scratched the back of my neck and nodded.

"What happened to all the people? Your father, your twin? The whole empire?" I asked, still in wonder that how such a big setup was nowhere to be found now.

"It all started almost a month after you escaped. Father casually revealed to us that he had given his will and in a year will step down from the position. We all of course knew who the next leader would be and all three of us were content with it. But then..." he paused and I grew impatient.
