The question was answered with fearful silence
A shudder seemed to pass through the crowd of corpses as if the chill in the air affected them even in death. A low chuckle spilled out of his lips. He looked down at the ground as he casually began to pace around.
"Vengeful souls. So miserable. So...dead." His eyes glimmered with pity, his face the epitome of sadness.
"Neither in the human realm nor in the heavens. Always wandering hungrily for their vengeance but never fulfilled. Never. So weak..." The pity in his eyes faded as he looked at them.
"Pathetic. Pathetic. PATHETIC."
He slowly lifted his eyes to the heavens. "You know what I should do?" He turned to look at the poignant corpses. "I should end your misery."
The corpses growled in fury, their anger emanating from them in wisps of swirling dark matter chilling the air lower than what any human could handle and they surged forward, their cry for vengeance ringing loud and clear.
Any other normal human would have crumbled in fear. Any other human would have screamed in terror. Any other normal human would have tried to flee. But since when was he normal?
Hoseok faced the barrage of corpses and shadows with a smile. The child of shadows spread his arms wide open and stood at the center as if preparing to embrace them, a vile smile tugging at his lips.
It was then that an unexpected bark came from the bushes.
His smile slipped. He turned to the familiar bush where a shitzu dog usually hid away. The abode of Mickey.
A frightened whimper came from the rustling leaves. He turned to the barrage and uttered, "Stop." Without even meaning to, the crowd froze in their advance. Turning back to the bush, he walked up to it. "Doggo."
The furball hiding amidst the leaves let out a growl and backed further away into the bush. Hoseok narrowed his eyes as he crouched in front of the bush, something flashing across his eyes. His voice was playful but an unspoken threat hung to his every word. "What do you mean I'm not your human, doggo?"
Mickey gave another brave growl, backing further into the bushes.
"Ah, you're making me a little mad..." he sang. The dog only let out furious barks in reply. He extended his hands into the bush and lifted the dog in his hands. "Come on now. Let's play a game~"
Rising from the ground, he turned to face the frozen ambush and aimed Mickey's forelegs at the crowd. "Unfreeze."
A wave swept over the frozen barrage and they fell to the ground. A mirthful laugh bubbled on his lips.
"Come on up," he called cheerfully. "I ended your pathetic existence once but if it's your wish to die at my hands again, then..." he shrugged as if he had no other option.
The shadows were the first to charge towards him and Hoseok pointed a protesting Mickey's forelimb at the forms and yelled, "Ppa!"
The form collapsed midway as if hit by an invisible bullet and eventually vanished from sight. A giggle burst in his throat as he raised his eyes to the rest of them.Aiming both the dog's legs at the crowd he began to shoot, "Ppa! Ppa! Ppa! Ratatata! Pew! Pew! Pew- ahahahaha..." his laughter rang out as the rotting corpses each stumbled and fell, vanishing into nothing.
Pathetic, miserable, weaklings. It amused him that they still tried when they knew they didn't stand a chance.
"Ah!" He felt pain shoot up his arm from where Mickey had bitten him. Mickey escaped from his slackened grip and sprinted off into the bushes once again.
