Sia raised her eyes to the ceiling and made a loud groan. Her best friend kept munching on his potato chips, scrolling on the phone. She groaned a little louder. Jin kept eating. Huffing out a frustrated breath, she turned to him.
"Can you at least pretend to care?"
The answer wasn't too long in its arrival. "Nope."
Sia had been frustrated all day. The dangerous confrontation she had with Hoseok kept playing in her brain over and over again. It was making her feel all kinds of weird. One moment she'd be fuming at the way he had the last word yesterday, leaving her with a nonchalant threat as if she was nothing compared to him. The next moment, however, she'd be thanking the stars for her luck that he had left her alone and didn't try to do anything to her. God knows what he could have done. The thought sent a chill down her spine.
But then that strange fury would build up in her system again in a vicious cycle. She didn't know what was going on with her. All the pent emotions and contradicting thoughts were getting a little too much for her to take and the only one she trusted enough to open up about it to was her best friend. So it annoyed her a little more than normal when he acted as if he didn't care.
"JIN!"
"Alright, what?!" He yelled, painfully wrenching his eyes away from the phone to his annoying friend.
"I need to tell you something!"
He held a hand up in the air signaling for her to stop.
"I know you love me. I love myself too."
"Can you be serious for once?!" she cried as he burst out laughing squeakily at his clever wit. Wiping away tears of joy, he turned "Okay, okay, what do you want to say?"
"It's Hoseok," she said. Jin's laughter ceased, eyes widening. Suddenly, feeling very interested, he scooted closer, "I'm all ears."
"It's..." she didn't know how or where to begin. It was a lot, honestly. Not to mention the fact that it was completely ridiculous. Who in their right minds would believe her unless they've witnessed what happened with her? That sent her adrenaline levels skyrocketing. The helplessness of her situation just made her even more frustrated and she blurted it out before she could stop herself.
"Hoseok isn't nor҉m҉a҉l҉"
Jin's face scrunched up. "Sorry, I didn't hear you. Hoseok is what?"
"Hoseok is not--" Sia's brain went blank. What was she about to say? Ah, right. About Hoseok. She tried again. "Hoseok is--" She blanked out again. What's going on?
"Hoseok is what?" Jin was growing impatient as he leaned forward looking into her eyes, trying to figure out what's on her mind through telepathy. It didn't work. "Hoseok is--"
Sia gasped. She couldn't say it. Something was keeping her from speaking because every time she tried to speak, a cloud of darkness would obscure her brain and a weird, numb sensation would spread over her tongue. A clear, cold voice warned from the depths of her mind.
You better keep it shut unless you want me to be the monster you fear.
Sia gasped out loud again as the realization hit her like a truck. "It's Hoseok!" She cried out loud. He did something to her. She was sure! When did it happen? How did it happen?
The memory of a thumb tracing a line over her lips flashed through her mind and she clapped her hands together. "That's it!"
Confusion defined Jin's features. Actually, no. Confusion was Jin. His patience was running low, "Okay, what? Now you've got me curious. Hoseok is what?"
