Chapter 16 - Walk

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

⇀3RD PERSON POV

"Yo Renjun what even are you doing here in town? In Ncity? Man you have Draco's." Haru asked and Renjun just shrugged. "I felt like being a guest once instead of just being a waiter."

"Like you've got a lot of work." Mari whispered to herself which was heard by the two vampires with superhearing. "Hey what do you mean?! I literally work for twelve hours every day! Unlike you who gets home at noon."

"You literally live at your work place!?" Mari fought back while stopping abruptly, making the other stop too. "Well, I at least do my work." The boy snapped back, making the girl gasp loudly.

"Ah yes because it's soooo hard to hand over a few cups of blood. Imagine having to deal with paperwork every damn day and having to deal with a headass to top it all."

"Excuse mE?! Did you just call me a headass? Do you know I'm of royal blood, I can get you sued for that!" Renjun stated as he glared at the girl.

Which was actually pretty funny because she's taller than him.

"Ah yes sue me, I don't care. Snap my neck, get me high on silver. I do not care." Mari replied back as Renjun tried his best to fight back his laugh.

"Why are you laughing?!" Mari asked as the boy broke down. "You really said snap my neck," He managed to say between his laughs, as tears started filling his eyes. "Ge- Get me high on silver."

His laughter filled the air as the girl slowly realised why the other was laughing, letting out a loud sigh. "You're so childish. Don't you think so Ar- Wha- They left us." Mari stated after realising the situation.

"Oh, they really did." Renjun agreed after calming down, wiping away his tears with his sleeve. "Now what?" Mari asked as she turned to look at the other. "I don't know."

The two stood in silence for a few moments before Renjun spoke up again. "Are you working tomorrow?"

"Yeah, why would I not?" Mari asked with a raised eyebrow, confused by the other's question. "I don't know, I just wanted to break the silence."

"Oh-" Mari hummed slightly before making her way over to a bench on the side, tapping the free space next to her. Renjun followed after her, sitting onto the seat next to the girl.

"You know, I used to walk around the town with Seonghwa and my parents before." She started speaking while playing with her fingers. "We would get ice-cream then walk towards the park.

Hwa and I usually sat on the swings and competed who would go higher while our parents sat at one of the benches on the side, close to each other so they knew the other was there, that they were safe."

Renjun quietly listened to what the girl was saying, even though he was unsure of why she was telling it to him.

"They were so in love. They couldn't stay away from each other for even a day. That's how much they meant to each other. One day I want to have what they had." She smiled slightly, as a single tear slipped down her cheeks, not passing unnoticed by the other.

He slowly moved his hand onto her cheek, moving his thumb over the tear and wiping it away as he stared right into her glossy eyes.

"I don't know why I just said this but I really needed to say something to someone or I will break, like I did back at the warehouse." She mumbled the last part but he heard her, flashbacks of her bleeding hand and blood mixed with the tears racing down the girl's face flashing through his mind.

"It's okay. I'm here for you." His voice was soft, bringing a feeling of comfort to her heart as she slowly nodded at his words. "Are you okay with telling me where your parents are now?"

"Gone." She whispered out as she closed her eyes and leaned her head onto his shoulder. "I'm sorry." Renjun replied after a few moments, regreting that he asked.

"Don't be, it's not your fault. Also, can you maybe not mention this to Areum because she doesn't know anything about it?"

"Yeah, sure." Renjun nodded his head before placing his hand on top of Mari's who slowly intertwined their fingers and let out a sigh.

"How did I come from hating you to you being the only person I felt comfortable sharing my feelings with?" Mari laughed slightly as they stopped in front of her house.

"I'm just like that, everyone loves me." Renjun said with a smirk as Mari punched his shoulder. "Also we just walked back and I must go to work by foot tomorrow apparently."

"I'll pick you up?" Renjun offered to which the girl shook her head. "No, I don't want to bother you that much."

"You're not bothering me, I'll gladly come and get you."

"If you're sure. I guess that's alright."

"Okay, I guess I'll see you at 7 tomorrow then."

"Sure. Night Renjun."

"Night Fluffball." He replied with a smile before running away towards Vampdom.

"Ah, what will I do with him." Mari mumbled to herself as she walked inside her house and towards her room.
