For the first time in a long long time, autumn came colder than usual in Okinawa. Well, it was colder for Reki, at least. Langa told him this weather felt like spring in Canada.
Reki was still terrified to think how cold the winters could be in Canada. He shivered at the mere thought.
Today they were supposed to have a picnic date in the park, but it was raining and again, it was colder than Reki was used to. He was still nested on his bed, covered with the blankets like a burrito. He pulled his arm out of the blankets to grab his phone and text Langa.
Reki: It's cold outside, I don't want to get out of bed.
He took a selfie, pouting, and attached it to their chat.
Langa took his sweet time to answer. Reki frowned. Why was it taking him so long to answer? He thought. But burst out of laughter as soon as he saw the wall of text of heart eye emojis Langa sent.
Then, he quickly sent another text.
Langa: You're so cute, babe. The cutest burrito <3
Reki blushed. They've been dating for two months and he still wasn't used to his compliments. And he probably wasn't gonna get used to it, like, ever. He's gonna be a blushing mess forever.
But he loved it, though. He loved to feel his heart beat faster like that just for Langa.
Langa: If you want, I can come to pick you up, and instead of our picnic date (thank you for ruining it, rain) we can have a movie date.
Reki laughed, his smile stretching.
Reki: Yeah, I'd love that.
Langa: And you know what I love?
Reki: What?
Langa: You <3
Reki was again a blushing mess. But his smile widened.
Reki: I love you, too <3
Langa: Now get out of bed and get ready, I'll be there soon.
Reki: I'm not complaining, but, that soon? I just woke up.
Langa: Babe, it's 11am, it's only soon for lunch, not for waking up.
Reki laughed.
Reki: And? It's a Saturday, I'm allowed to wake up this late.
Langa: No if I'm not there to cuddle with you.
At this point the blush was never gonna leave his face.
Reki: Shut up and come to pick me up already.
Langa: I know you're blushing, you're so so cute, baby. Anyway, I'm gonna take a shower, see ya <3
Reki sent him a bunch of heart emojis before reluctantly getting out of bed. Do it for Langa, Reki tried to encourage himself while he headed to the shower at a fast pace.
When Langa arrived, it finally stopped raining, but a picnic date was not an option anymore knowing everything would be wet in the park. Reki didn't mind it at all, a cozy movie date now sounded a lot more appealing.
"Bye, mom!" Reki said while he put his shoes on.
"Bye, Mrs. Kyan!"
"Bye, sweethearts, have fun."
Masae told them with a fond smile before the boys finally headed out.
Reki shivered.
"Are you cold?" Langa asked. Reki nodded, hugging himself. Langa put his arm on Reki's back so he could rub his arm and warm him a little bit, pressing him to his side. "Better?"
Reki smiled softly at him.
"Yeah, thank you."
Even if it was cold outside, at least the view of their walk to Langa's home was beautiful. All the trees were already full of red, orange and yellow shades, and the rain had made a lot of leaves fall to the ground, creating a colorful path.
As soon as they got to Langa's home, Reki ran to his boyfriend's closet and borrowed the warmest hoodie he could find. It was too big for him, and that made it even cozier, it felt as if Langa was hugging him, and soon after, he was literally doing it, embracing him from behind, hugging his waist tightly.
"Oh my God, you're so cute, babe. Are you trying to make me fall harder for you?" Langa demanded, perching his chin on Reki's shoulder, pecking him on the cheek.
Reki tilted his head so he could give him a proper kiss on the lips. He didn't try to hide his blush this time, feeling bold for once.
"Maybe." he finally said in a shy whisper.
Or not so bold as he thought.
Langa smiled at him.
"Then congratulations, it's working." he said, squeezing his waist. Reki beamed at him.
"Isn't your mom at home?" he asked, realizing now that he hadn't seen her yet.
Langa heaved a sigh.
"No, she had a double shift at the hospital today." he explained.
"Oh man, that sounds tough." Reki furrowed his brow, worried for Langa's mom.
"She has two days off after this, so she could rest at least." at that, Reki smiled in relief.
"I'm glad to hear that."
"What if I cook us some early lunch and we crash to the couch afterwards? Sounds good?" Langa suggested.
"Sounds great, dude!"
After they ate Langa's delicious omelettes, he made tea for the both of them, Reki grabbed a blanket and they finally settled on the couch. Or more precisely, Reki settled between Langa's legs, nesting himself against his boyfriend's chest, covered to the chin with the blanket. Langa smiled at him and left a kiss on the top of his head.
They decided to do a Marvel marathon, starting with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 and Vol.2 afterwards.
They shared their thoughts about the movies between sips of their warm tea. Reki felt so, so cozy and relaxed with Langa's arms around his shoulders and his hoodie giving him another hug. He placed his mug on the coffee table, feeling how quickly he was starting to get sleepy. He got more comfortable against Langa's chest, closing his eyes and letting sleep take him.
When he woke up, the TV was off, and he and Langa were completely laying on the couch, hugging each other tightly, being a burrito under the blanket.
Reki sighed contently, hiding his face on Langa's neck and leaving there a soft feather-light kiss. He smiled to himself, wishing all autumns were that colder so he could borrow his boyfriend's clothes all the time.
But for now, he was definitely gonna steal that hoodie and sleep on it all the nights he couldn't cuddle with Langa, feeling that ghost-like hug like a second skin.
