Fiona and Isabella begged and succeeded in convincing Akeela to tell her mother she would be home the next weekend instead of Monday which was two days away.

Akeela didn't know how to do that until Isabella began to cry, slamming her body into Akeela's in a hug. Akeela began to feel emotional too.

Akeela promised to do something about it as Fiona dropped her off at home after their outing.

Akeela made sure Bella smiled before she got out of the car. Bella was the softest amongst them, whereas Fiona was fiery and strong.

Akeela knew she was going to miss her too but Fiona would never show it. She was good at hiding her emotions and Akeela wished she was like that too, so she won't get hurt at every little thing Fred does.

When she got close to the door, she saw Fred sitting on the front terrace. She wasn't expecting to see him. She didn't know if seeing him at that moment was the best. She felt her anger rising again but she tried to calm herself down.

"I'm going home on Monday", she quickly announced to him when they both got in,  without saying a word to each other, except for Fred who smiled. But the smile was not returned.

"What? Is it because of what happened yesterday?" He asked but she kept quiet. "Baby, nothing happened."

"Nothing happened? Why were you sorry then?" Fred knew how much she detest arguing with anyone, especially him.

He took a deep breath and remained silent. His apology that night has given him away already.

"It was just an apology. I felt I owe you that", he replied.

"Just an apology? Do you think I'm going to take that shit? Just like I've always done? Well...I'm not ready to take this shit anymore." She tried not to raise her voice at him but she couldn't help it. She felt herself getting angry watching his sorry face.

"Come on, honey", he embraced her. He knew that was her weak point. Sweet names. Fred was good at that. He held her in silence, thinking of what to say.

"Please don't go", he sniffed and looked down

Akeela knew he would begin to cry if she didn't say anything. "I'm not going home because of you", he let go of her and watched her face.

His forehead met hers. "Why are you leaving me then, my queen?"

She closed her eyes, trying so hard not to let the issue go just like that. His words and expression were dissolving her anger slowly, even though she wanted to remain angry at him.

"Mom wants me home. She feels there is nothing here for me to wait for. She said a job is waiting for me at home already."

"Shit", he cursed and moved away. He sat down on a sofa and buried his head in between his hands.

Akeela didn't know what to do or how to pacify him. She stood watching him, without uttering a word and moving.

"So, are you going to break up with me?" His face was sorry but Akeela wanted to look past his face and emotions.

She puffed out the air she didn't know she had been holding in. "Except on one condition."

"What condition?" He finally raised his head up to look at her. Akeela could see the unshed tears, lurking behind and waiting for release.

"You tell me the truth." She looked away.

"What truth? I already told you nothing happened, dear." He tried to hold her again.

"Don't give me that shit, Frederick", she shouted. Her anger was back. She hated lies. It was unlike her to call him by his name during conversations.

He was used to hearing her call him 'babe'. Fred flinched at her voice and watched her. He had never seen her that angry.

"Did you sleep with any girl yesternight?" She wasn't going to take any more of his shit as she had said. Her eyes were red.

"Keela, ........"

"Fucking answer my question, Fred", she cut him short. "And I want nothing but the truth."

He watched her, trying to guess if she was serious about it. His relationship with her was at risk.

He loved her and couldn't bear her breaking up with him. It would break him. Her going home was enough to break him but her break up would shatter his existence.

He knew she was serious the moment her eyes didn't break free from his. The Akeela he knew was a very patient and calm girl but the girl before him was mad at him for one single mistake that kept repeating itself.

He exhaled deeply and looked away. "Yes, I did."

****
Now that he has said the truth, do you think Akeela will break up with him?

Do you think it's best if she breaks up with him? How will they cope with their relationship when Akeela eventually goes back home to Nigeria?
