Akeela couldn't get her head around what was happening. In just two days of being in Nigeria, her life was in turmoil.

She was hoping for a peaceful time in Nigeria but it turned out the total opposite was what was awaiting her arrival. She had a lot of questions going through her mind.

Why were her parents inconsiderate of her feelings?

She felt like crying but she knew she had to be calm. She should have known her mother was up to mischief after she began to call her persistently, insisting she comes back home.

Why didn't she think of it? Did her mother lie about the job just so they could drag her down here to Nigeria and get her married to some man who barely knows her? What the hell was happening?

She almost lost control of the wheels as she thought of Fred. Her darling boyfriend. She wondered how he was going to feel.

She knew he wouldn't take it lightly. She knew she needed to do something about the stupid matchmaking. She didn't want any man but Fred.

She needed to tell her parents her mind. And if they don't concur with her choice, she was going to ask her brother to come and beg them.

Immediately she drove into the compound, she got down from the car trembling. She didn't know if she was afraid to face her parents and tell them she can't go along with their plan.

Her decision also matters, right?

She exhaled deeply, trying to control her nerves as she walked into the house. She hardly get mad at people but at that moment, she was boiling in rage.

She was an adult and adults are allowed to make decisions for themselves, without anyone's interference.

"Mom", she called when she entered the house. Her mother wasn't in the living room and she rushed upstairs, calling to her.

"My princess is back", she heard her father's voice. She opened their bedroom door slowly and got in.

Without greeting any one of them, she folded her arms and looked squarely at her mother. She knew her mother was behind it all. She had always been the one behind it all.

Behind Akeem's marriage.

Her travel to England. And many more.

"Mom, what the hell is happening?"

"I won't allow such words in my house, woman." Her mother snapped at her, dropping the clothes In her hand and staring daggers at the angry girl.

She knew what Akeela was talking about but wouldn't let her have her way. It was in her own best interest. She knew her daughter was a calm person but seeing her angry face baffled her a lot. Was five years enough to turn a soft person into a hardhearted person?

"What happened, princess?" Her father questioned calmly.

Hearing her father's voice made her break eye contact with her mother and she sobbed. "I have a boyfriend for crying out loud, dad. Why will you guys try to hook me up with some man that I don't even know?"

Her father sighed and glanced at his wife, obviously trying to tell her something through eye contact.

"Princess."

"It's not as if you don't know Jamal. He is your friend's brother and he is a cool guy. You will like him, honey", her mother plastered a smile on her face and tried to touch her.

"I have a boyfriend, mom. He will be hurt." She flinched from her mother's touch.

"Boyfriend?" Her mother demanded with a furrowed brow. "Since when did this start and I was not told? What other things have you been doing, Akeela?"
