The hall was decorated with the various items of decors the girls had gone out to purchase the day before.
Photo backdrops, tassel garlands, mylar letter balloons, customized posters were all over the hall. There was a heart-shaped cake with a pink design and different snacks on the large table. Even though it wasn't dark yet, there were candles everywhere, adding to the beauty of the hall.
The bride was dressed in a pink flowery gown with ribbons all over it. The gown had an outer transparent long silk material while the inner was short. There were buttons at the front of the dress with another beautiful plump design on the arm of the dress, which was narrowed towards the edge of her hand. She had a black scarf of the same material tied around her head to cover her hair.
The girls, Fiona, Isabella, Haneefah, Hadiza, Tiana, Dasola, Cynthia, and Maryam were in a bridal robe, which was also pink in color. It was different from the dress of the bride because of the beautiful designs on Akeela's clothes.
The girls were holding a sash each, Haneefah was holding the one that has the "next in line", written on it.
They started the program after a late lunch. Akeela thought Jamal was going to show up before the beginning of the bridal shower but he didn't. She decided to send him a text, so they could meet after the party.
"The party has started already. Let's meet at 8 pm. Love you." She texted him.
She looked around and Sarah was still not around. Akeela wondered what was wrong and why she was absent.
The day before, Akeela thought Fred would say something about being Sarah's cousin but he didn't. She also thought he was going to blame her for snatching Sarah's boyfriend but he didn't. She debated within her whether to tell him and beg him not to tell Sarah or not. After much contemplation, she decided to let fate take its course.
Sarah should know by herself, she concluded.
Haneefah arrived late too. Akeela watched her and saw how unhappy she looked. She wasn't her usual cheerful self, she looked gloomy.
Akeela knew something was wrong with her, she only came because Akeela would notice her absence. Akeela wondered what could be wrong.
All of a sudden, she felt uneasy, until Fiona began another show of hers, sending everyone shrieking in laughter.
Fiona began to dance funnily, she was trying to emulate how Nigerians dance. She was busy shaking her tiny buttocks to the slow music. Isabella was the DJ and she was also laughing at her friend's hilarious act.
Akeela chuckled. They had just finished one of the bridal shower games they enlisted on the to-do list. It was a bingo game and the next thing on the list was a wedding libs game. But Fiona's dance was stopping them from starting.
She moved to where Akeela was seated. Fiona dragged her up and insisted on seeing her dance.
Akeela decided to show her the real Nigerian dance. She pushed her buttocks out and began to move slowly in an anti-close wise manner. Fiona tried doing it once more but she failed. They all laughed
When they sobered, Akeela went back to her seat.
"I'm going to share the wed-lib list now and I will get it back from you after the party is done. It will be the last thing to do before we end the party." Fiona told them all. "Are you ready?"
"Yes." They all chorused in excitement.
"We want to dance", Tiana shouted. "with the bride."
"Uhuh", Fiona pouted. "that will be after the games are over. Let's go to the next thing." She said after distributing the list to all the girls. It was meant to be filled and the funny answers will be read out aloud before the end of the party.
