Chapter 14

I finally got to Em. She wasn't mad after I told her the story. She told me to get in her car and we were headed somewhere.

"Where are we going?"
"You'll see when we get there."

Oh boy. She could be taking me ANYWHERE. I just sat back and looked out the window.

"We're here."
I sat up and looked at her, "Where are we?"
"Getting you a car."
"Em, I haven't taken a driver's test. It would take awhile to study for it and then ta-"
"I know stupid. I told them your situation and they said you can take a short one today!"

I let her drag me inside and up to the front desk. The woman there lead us to another room with a man in a grey suit.

"Nagisa Free?"

I nodded and stepped closer to the desk. Em went outside of the office and waited in her car.

"Are you ready for the test?"
"Uh, yeah."
"Follow me."

He took me outside to car and slid into the passenger's seat. I got in the driver's. Why did Em do this? I know nothing about cars! I snapped the seatbelt over my chest and turned the key. The man started writing down things and then locked his seatbelt too.

"Alright. Just pull the car out of the lot and take a left."

I did as he said. I haven't crashed yet. 'Nagisa Free you might actually get a car!'

"Go down this street and take a right."

Another perfect turn.

"Another right up here."

And another.

"One more up here."

And another.

"And turn into the lot and park up there."

Perfect parking!

"Wow Ms. Free. You did amazing."
"I did?"
"Not a scratch on the vechicle."

I let out a quick sigh.

"Go up to the desk you came in and the lady there will give you further instructions."
"Thank you so much."

I smiled at the man and walked into the building to the desk.

"Nagisa, if you would step right on that dot and smile at the camera-"

I did as she told. The rest was a blur of excitement.

"How did you do Nags?"

I held up the license to show her. We both squealed.

"I did perfect!"
"I'm so proud of you."

She gave me a hug and asked me if I wanted to drive. I took the offer and started the car.

"Can you call Mikey?"
"Sure."

Em took out her phone and dialed Michael's number.

"Hey Michael. -- Nags wants to see you so we're gonna head that way. -- Mhm. -- Yep. -- Bye."

I drove just like I did on that test and pull into Michael's home. He was waiting outside on the porch on the phone. Probably yelling at Gavin.
