Michael and I had a day off and I offered to spend it at a park nearby. We were sitting on the swings, rocking back and forth talking about anything and everything. It's been a couple of months since the car accident and my leg was almost healed up. Dailey took my cast off about a week ago, but had me wearing one of those plastic boot things to get used to walking on my foot.
There was never anyone at this park. It was kind of our secret place. I liked it. "We used to be strangers," I said, almost in a whisper. I didn't realize I said it out loud until Michael replied. "Isn't that weird." I looked over and notice he hand his hand held out towards me. I put my hand in his.

We came home around two in the afternoon. I took Cherry on a quick walk before settling down on the couch. I was wearing an my t-shirt that had a picture of flowers on the front and a pair of underwear. All of my pants were in the wash because Cherry had peed on them while we were gone. I had lost a lot of weight while my leg was recovering and all of my clothes were bigger than they used to be.
"You look hot," Michael says, sitting down beside me. I rolled my eyes, "Shut up." Michael put an arm around my shoulders. I laid my head on him. I was supposed to meet up with Gavin around six for an early birthday dinner, so I had some time to kill. "Round of Mario Karts?" I asked, with a slight smirk on my face. Michael smiled back, grabbing the Wii remotes and turning on the TV. He switched the channel to the one that the Wii was hooked up on and started the game.
The game ended with me beating Michael twice and him beating me once. I checked my phone for the time, 5:30. I leaned over and kissed Michael's cheek. He smiled and started working on putting the remotes away as I made my way to the bedroom. Since all my pants were in the wash, I grabbed my light blue, floral-patterned dress. I went to the bathroom and took a quick shower. When I got out, I put my hair in a quick bun. My hair was still tan-colored and I was probably not going to the store anytime soon to get dye.
When I walked into the living room, I found Michael and Gavin sitting on the couch laughing at some thing. I walked up and stood behind them, leaning down. Gavin had a picture of me when I was five. In the picture, I had my hair up in a funny way and I had on one of Gavin's shirts. "What are you two laughing at?" I asked with a little sarcasm in my voice. Gavin just about jumped out of his own skin, which made Michael laugh even harder. A smirk landed on my face as Gavin turned around and frowned at me.
I walked around to the front of the couch, Michael right behind me. Gavin stood up, now with a stupid smile on his lips, and headed towards the door. I followed, slipped on my boots, and grabbed my purse. When I stepped out of the front door, Em was waiting in the driver's seat of her black Toyota. I got into the back with Michael and Gavin got in the passenger's. Em reached back and patted my thigh, "Happy birthday, loser." "Thanks, jerk." I replied, as she pulled out of the driveway.
I had no idea where we were going. Em must've sense my questions, we have that kind of friendship, as she answered them for me. "We thought you and Michael would want to spend tonight with just the two of you." She added in a wink, causing me to lightly hit her shoulder. I turned around to look at Gavin in the backseat, he was on his phone and didn't notice me. I reached my left arm back and ruffled his hair. He jumped in his seat and looked up at me with a smile.

Em pulled the car into the parking spot of a building I've never been to before. "Em?" I looked over at her as she pulled the keys out if the ignition. "Don't worry, you'll love it." She smiled at me and told me to get out of the car. I did as she said and the three of us walked into the building. Michael intertwined out fingers together as I looked around. We were at a skating rink and Ray, Ryan, Geoff, Meg, and Barbara were sitting in one of the
visible rooms in the back. Em pushed Michael and I towards the room. When we got in the room, everyone stood up and ran over to give me a group hug. I smiled and tried to hug them all back. Em stopped the hugging and started asking everyone for shoe sizes before running over to the rental counter. I took a seat between Michael and Gavin. We started talking about new video games and Gavin almost shoved a cupcake in my face, but I got him first.
A few minutes later, Em, along with the help of a worker, brought our skates and started passing them out. I took off my boots and slipped my feet into the skates and tied the laces. Michael was already standing with his skates laced up. He had his left arm stretched out towards me. I smiled and placed my hand in his as he pulled me up. My left foot moved back, making me fall forwards. Michael caught me, almost falling back himself. "Sorry," I started, getting my balance back. "I haven't skated in like fifteen years."
I managed to skate around, supported by both Michael and Gavin. We fell down, at least three times, due to Gavin losing control of his balance. This would have to be the best birthday I've had in years. I got new video games from everyone and some art supplies from Em. The party ended around eight and everyone went home. Em and Gavin dropped Michael and I off at our place before they took off themselves.
