I rolled over to see Michael not beside me. I grunted and checking the time on my phone. It was 11 am. I rolled out of bed and mad my way into the kitchen to see Michael making coffee. I walked up beside him and grabbed two mugs, setting them beside the coffee maker. "We have to make that fudge for Gav's party tonight," Michael said, pouring the coffee into the mugs and handing one to me. I yawned, "It takes thirty minutes, we'll be fine." My phone buzzed so I sat my mug down to see who texted me.
Nagi, I have something important to tell you and I really need your opinion. - Gav
What's up? - NagiHe was typing so I took this time to take a sip of coffee, following Michael to the couch. My phone buzzed again.
I'm thinking of proposing to Em. - Gav
I chocked on my coffee, which caught Michael's attention. He peeked over to look at my phone as I set my mug on the coffee table. Michael looked at me with wide eyes.
When are you thinking on doing it? - Nagi
Tonight at the party. Do you think she'll say yes? - Gav
Oh, Gavin you pleb. She has been going on and on about you. - Nagi
Is that a yes then? - Gav
I think she's going to say yes. - NagiI sat my phone down on the coffee table and looked over at Michael, who looked stunned. I stood up, patting Michael's shoulder. "Let's start making the fudge. He probably won't have the guts." Michael nodded, following me into the kitchen. We took out all the materials and started up the stove. My phone buzzed again and I picked it up. Gavin was calling. I started to walk out of the kitchen to pick up and mouthed to Michael 'Keep stirring.' I stepped into the living room and hit the answer button and held the phone to my ear.
"Hey Gav. What's up?" I sat down on the couch. "Can you guys get here an hour before anyone else?" I scrunched up my eyebrows, "What for?" "I kinda need some help putting together the food table." "Alright, we'll be there." I heard a loud thud and turned towards the kitchen. "I gotta go. I think Michael might've messed up the fudge." I hung up and sat my phone down and jogged into the kitchen.
Michael was sitting on the floor holding his arm. I sighed and walked towards him. Michael scoffed at me as I helped him up. I led him into the bathroom and sat him on the side on the tub. I took out a first aid kit and started to dab on some water. His right elbow had a scratch and there was a bruise starting to show on his left knee. "What did you do?" I asked, taking out the Neosporin and a bandaid. "I tripped over the stupid chairs." Michael jerked back his elbow when I dabbed on the Neosporin. "Don't be a baby, it doesn't hurt." He rolled his eyes and I put a bandaid on his elbow.
Once Michael was all patched up, I threw on a dress and some boots. He was already wearing some blue jeans and the navy blue shirt I had bought him. We lingered into the kitchen and Michael grabbed the fudge. I got in the passenger's seat and sat the pan on my lap. I buckled my seatbelt as Michael started the engine.

After we set up the food table, it was almost time for the party to start. I started talking to Gavin as Michael went to grab some beverages. Gavin took out a small, black velvet box from his pocket and opened it. The ring inside was beautiful. It had one big diamond in the center and a bunch of small ones beside it. It looked super expensive. "Oh Gavin. That's beautiful! How could you afford it?" Gavin shut the box and stuffed it back in his pocket. "I saved up for it." Michael walked up beside Gavin, handed each of us a beer. The doorbell rung and Gavin walked off to open it. It was Geoff and Griffion. Gavin hugged them as Michael and I walked over to hug them too. My phone buzzed and I checked to see who it was. Em was texting me and asking me to come upstairs. I didn't even realize she was here. I excused myself and walked upstairs.
Em was in the bathroom fixing her hair. I gave her a slight hug. "What's up?" She turned to look at me, "Do I look okay?" I nodded. She sighed in relief. I took a sip of my beer, "Was that all?" Em nodded. I rolled my eyes and put a hand on her back, leading her downstairs. More people from the company had showed up by now, even Ray was here. I lingered over towards him and snuck up behind him, giving him a hug. He turned around and hugged me back. "I haven't seen you in forever, you arse!" I laughed. He smiled back, "Missed you too, Nagi." I heard someone call my name and told Ray I'd be right back. I walked towards the voice and realized it was Lindsay. I have her a hug, "Hey Lindsay!"
~
An hour passed and I noticed I haven't seen Gavin anywhere. I asked a couple of people, but they hadn't seen him either. I jogged up the stairs and knocked on Gavin's bedroom door. I heard a muffled "It's open." I pushed the door open to find Gavin sat on his bed, holding the bow containing the ring. I sat down next to him. "Don't be so nervous, Gav." He sighed, "I just really like her, Nags." I rubbed his back, handing him my beer an letting him take a reassuring sip. I smiled, "Go get 'em tiger." He chuckled and stood up. I stood up beside him and we both walked downstairs.
I stood beside Michael and Ray as Gavin led Em near the bottom of the stairs. Everyone turned their attention to them. Michael put his arm around my shoulders. Gavin took out the velvet box and started talking. "Ember Soul. I've known you for a few years now and we've been dating for a while." Em glanced over at me and I saw she was tearing up. She turned her attention to Gavin as he got down on one knee. He held the opened velvet box towards her. "Will you marry me?" She nodded and smiled, holding out her left hand. Gavin smiled and slid the ring on her finger.
