Chapter 26

"Michael, I'm sorry."

I apologized for the tenth time. He wasn't budging. I decided to play along, just to get a kick out of it. I leaned back in my chair and threw my hands in the air.

"Fine. You win."

I pushed my chair over to Ray and told him to take Michael out to the parking lot to 'talk' to him after work. My real plan was to dump water on him.

After work, Ray did what I asked him him to. Ryan and Em helped me fill a bucket of water and take it outside. Burnie stopped us halfway to the door and seemed okay with it after I told him. Geoff took out his phone and filmed it.

When we got outside, I gave Ray the signal and he walked out if the way. Ryan helped me dumb the water on Michael. It was hilarious!

I drove Michael and I home. It was Friday night and I was hoping he didn't want to go out anywhere. I sat down on the couch. He went into the bathroom to get dried off. I took off my glasses and dozed off on the couch.

I woke up just a minute after I fell asleep to a crash. I put my glasses back on and got up to see what happened. I knocked on the bathroom door. I opened it to find Michael putting on a bandaid. I leaned on the doorway and smiled.

"What did you do?"

"I fell."

"How did you fall?"

"I tripped on the towel."

"Did you clean the cut?"

"Yeah. How come you're so worried? It's just a scrape."

"Long story."

"We got time. Let's sit on the couch."

We sat down and I sighed. He looked at me. I looked at him. It was quiet for five minutes.

"Alright, alright. I'll tell."

He smiled and I layed down on with my head on his lap. Then I started to tell him the story.

"I wanted to be a doctor all my life, but never had time. So-"

"How come y-"

"Shh. I'm getting there. When I was living with Geoff, he taught me how to play video games. I took a liking to it and now we're here."

I sat up and went to go throw on something to sleep in. I hated talking about the doctor thing. It was a little too personal to talk about to anyone. Michael followed me into the bedroom. I ignored him and put on pajamas.

He pulled me into a hug. I didn't hug back at first, but I did. I pulled away and gave him a quick kiss. I made him sit on the bed beside me and leaned on him. We say like that for an hour and I must've fallen asleep.
