Their steps detonated as they raced down the narrow hallway.

Felix first, pummeling through groups of students, stumbling over their extended legs and weaving between their groups of friends to keep that quick pace. His shoulder knocked one, two, three, unsuspecting students over, weak and breathless stammers wordlessly tossed to them from the shaky eyes, as he staggered from the collision and continued on.

Hyunjin in quick tow behind him, bounding around the students the former knocked into, leaving muttered apologies in the wake of angered students broken apart from their friends. He wobbled by the one, two, three, baffled students attempting to stand back up from the floor, more flurries of 'Sorry' and 'Excuse me!' following each of his unintended bumps, as he staggered around the destruction and continued after the other vampire.

Felix slid around a corner, a delayed hand sliding along the sharp edge of the wall guiding him from the complete descend forward.

Hyunjin chased after. His chest heaved with the physical exertion, a mental groan forcing his pace to pick up faster.

The younger tossed a glance over his shoulder as he dashed down another corridor. His face paled more. His steps pounded quicker on the carpeted floors. His feet stumbled over one another. His voice tore, "Go away!"

"Why... Why do you need to make this difficult?!" Hyunjin called after, his words strained and breathless from the short amount of physical exertion keeping him in tandem with the other's escape. He shuffled a few steps in an attempt to catch his breath, the other vampire growing farther away in his vision as he grumbled the complaint to the back of his head, "Stop running! I'm so tired of running, I want to talk!"

Felix rounded another corner.

Students lining the hallways were watching them.

"This... Just... Ugh," Hyunjin breathed heavily. He tossed his head back to the ceiling, another groan on his lips before he picked his pace back up to the sluggish sprint he kept and whined, "Fuck me, man."

He followed after the loud beats resonating from the other and caught up to see his retreating form trip over his own green converse.

Felix glanced back, quickly picked himself back up, and slipped into a heavy iron door labeled with a neon red 'EXIT' plastered above.

Chasing after, Hyunjin slammed his shoulder into the door's bar handle, the sound vibrating through his eardrums, his head, his spine, down to the exhausted muscles of his legs as he stumbled into the open echo chamber that was the indoor fire escape stairwell. He wobbled inside as the pounding of heavy footsteps ricocheted off the plain white walls, bouncing, slamming, thundering, as violently as it reverberated as the exhausted breaths which accompanied it's travel. As his palms slammed into the guard railing behind the door, the noise attracted his gaze upward. Up, to the spiraling stairwell traveling the few floors above him. Up, to the shadow casted across the wall.

The fire escape door clanked close behind them.

No one else was around.

No one to hear them.

Hyunjin pressed off from the railing, an excitement bubbling in his throat and in his heart he left unchecked pressing him up the flight of stairs.

Tearing free, his voice turned gutteral as he roared, "You can't run forever, Felix!"

The response came swift, and shrill.

"Leave me alone!"

The vampire chased after it's fleeing sound. A sweet cry, like drops of rain on a pine tree. His fingertips touched down to the stone steps, the momentum of his scurried steps propelling him up the flight, swinging him around, palms sliding along the metal railings, his soles screaming against the solid ground as his steps moved faster, quicker, hurried, unlike before, he gained, he hopped up the steps, bounding leaps chasing down the younger, until he could see the other vampire's back.
