my life is like an ocean..."We stay here for a few nights and then we're off to Las Vegas" Hayley Marshall's voice rang through her head as she drove. "Are you listening?" Hayley added nudging her elbow into the girl's arm.
"Yeah, sorry, I feel...sick" She responded to Hayley. "Stop the car. I'm going to throw up," She said as she felt the lump of food coming up her throat. Jumping out of the black pickup truck the two had rented, She bent forward, throwing up her cheeseburger and strawberry milkshake from last night's dinner at a diner they had stopped by.
"Are you okay?" Hayley asked with concern as she patted her back trying not to look at the vomit on the grass. Seconds later, she stopped and looked up at Hayley who handed her a bottle of water.
"I don't know what I'd do without you" She smiled, taking a sip of water.
"I know, I know, I'm amazing" Hayley replied, waving her palms around. "I'm so glad you put up with me, I honestly don't know what I'd do without you, Syrah" And with that, a smile appeared on the brunette's face.

"Third time in here this week," A woman spoke from behind the counter.
"We're obsessed with the gumbo, Jane-Anne" Hayley responded with a smile. Syrah shot Jane-Anne a smile before returning to eating her bowl of Gumbo. The two had been in New Orleans for 3 days now and they were having the time of their lives.
"The old ladies in the Ninth Ward would say my sister, Sophie, bleeds a piece of her soul into every dish" Jane-Anne spoke with a smile on her face.
"I asked around the quarter about my family," Hayley spoke. The main reason the two were in New Orleans.
"And?" Jane-Anne asked in anticipation.
"Nothing," Hayley replied bitterly. "Zero. Can't find a single soul that remembers them"
"Because, Hayley, people like you were run out of here years ago" Jane-Anne explained as a queasy feeling swam around Syrah's stomach. "Syrah, you have beautiful hair, do you mind?" She added leaning against the counter and running her hand down Syrah's hair.
"I'll be back in a minute," Syrah spoke getting up from the wooden stool. "Going for a smoke," She added picking up the pack of cigarettes and lighter on the counter. She stuffed them into her pocket before crossing the street and entering a drugstore. Syrah walked up to the counter nervously.
"What do you need?" A woman asked from behind the counter, impatiently.
"Uh- Can I have a pregnancy test please?" Syrah whisper-spoke to the woman. The woman raised her eyebrows in interest as she got up from her chair, going into a small door. Waiting for the woman to come back, Syrah's feet began tapping impatiently on the ground.
"Here, Dollar-Ninety-Nine," The woman said as she walked out of the small door. She placed the test on the counter, sliding it towards Syrah. She paid the woman before nervously staring at the box. "There's a bathroom over there if you want to," She added with a small smile on her face.
"Thank you," Syrah replied as she paced to the bathroom. She followed the instructions written on the box and she was done, all she had to do now was wait. Impatient as she is, she placed the test in her pocket as she briskly walked out.
