~Ava's POV~

We entered a small village, the people seeming to be human and elves. I gazed at Kai to see shock written all over his face. Kai placed a satchel in her hand then smiled.
"Go get some supplies," he stated. "I'm going to ask for information about the elven kingdom."
I watched him disappear into the crowd then saw a woman who caught her eyes. She was an elf in armor. Slowly, I approached her, making the elf woman turn to me.
"Who are you little human?" The elf asked.
"My name is Ava. I came here with my partner. I'm on a journey," I stated, feeling like she could trust the woman.
"You may call me Azura. I work here in the village as a guard. Say.... Are you in need of an archer?" Azura asked.
I was a bit taken back. I didn't expect this woman to want to join her. "You may come along if you want too," I said, still a bit shocked.
"Good. You shall stay with me little lady. I live there in the large house," she said, pointing towards a large house.

"I trust her Kai. I feel like we should," I said as they approached the large house. "Do not doubt me."
Kai kept grumbling about how he didn't trust her. I let out a tiny giggle as we approached the guarded house. We were stopped by a rather nice looking guard elf, similar looking to Kai but with a more round face and brown hair.
"Halt. Who are you?" He asked.
"Azura said we could stay with her tonight," I smiled.
"I'll take you to Lady Azura immediately then," he smiled back.

The guard brought the us into the large fancy house, it being even more beautiful on the inside. My eyes scanned the room we were brought too then we waited for Azura. Kai didn't seem impressed and kept his hood up, as if to hide himself. I shook my head then saw Azura walk in.
"Hello deary," she smiled. "How are you doing?"
  "I'm ok," I chuckled.
"Who's your little friend?" She asked.
"This is Kai. He's the first person I met," I stated, placing my hand on his strong arm.
"Ah I see.... You're the human from the prophecy correct?" She asked, an erie silence falling over the group.
Kai put his arm in front of me, growling at Azura. "Why do you want to know?" He snapped at her, being protective.
Azura smirked. "I've been kept in these walls my whole life," she stated, walking to her large window over looking the town. "I am elven royalty after all."
"Then we need to get something from you," I said, gently grabbing Kai's arm.
"Sacred wood," me and Azura said together.

Ava snapped awake, feeling her stomach churn. She got up, putting her armor on then gazed out her window. The guards were laying about the yard, bleeding.
"Shit," she muttered, running to Kai's room and awoke him.
  "Ava? What's wrong?" He muttered.
"We're being attacked. The guards are in the yard dead," she whispered. "I'm going to get Azura."
She ran to Azura's study and saw her searching for something. She seemed worried about something. Ava walked over, seeing her holding a little box.
"We need to go," Ava stated.
"We can leave through the caverns below my home," Azura said as they ran out of the room.
Ava, Azura, and Kai got into the basement then Azura lifted up a hatch door. The sound of glass breaking upstairs made Ava jump. They slipped into the cavern then followed Azura. The caverns were wet and the only sound was the sound of them walking. The human was deep in thought as she grasped onto her book.
"I think those were the queen's soldiers. So we should get out quick," Kai stated.
"We're almost out," Azura stated. "Then we can head to the old place. They wont be able to enter without magic killing them on site."
Ava seemed to be in shock as they left the cavern. Before them was a beautiful lake surrounded by the forest. In the middle of the lake was a statue of a beautiful woman.
"That's the rightful queen Ava," Azura explained. "She's beautiful huh?"
"Very," Ava stated. "I can't believe she was killed by her step sister."
"What do you mean? It wasn't the dwarves?" The royal elf asked, gawking at Ava.
Ava shook her head. "Its all in here. Apparently I'm the only one who can read it," she said, opening the book and showing it to the elf woman.
"Thats the old language. Everyone spoke it and wrote it. Only scholars can read it now," Azura muttered. "But you can read it?" Ava nodded, making the two elves look at her.
