Ava gently bandaged Kai up, humming a small tune to keep herself from crying. Azura was setting up the rest of the camp. Ava's hand gently ran through Kai's ginger locks, making him stir in his magic induced sleep. She was worried for the elf. The girls didn't think he would make it since he lost a lot of blood. The journey had to be halted due to Kai being injured.
"Hey Ava.... I'm gonna go hunting. We're safe here in these woods so it shouldn't be dangerous," Azura said, grabbing a handmade bow and some arrows.
Ava didn't watch Azura leave, she was way to worried for Kai's safety. She felt as if this was her own fault. She hadn't realized it but there was a special bond growing between her and Kai, who wanted nothing more than go protect her, hence why he took an arrow for her.

"How are you doing?" Azura asked Ava, handing her a bowl of soup.
"I'm fine. Just.... Worried," Ava muttered.
Ava and Azura began to eat. Aura knew there was a slim chance Kai would survive. The arrow had hit close to his heart, so the guy who did it must have been an archer out for blood. Either Kai knew him or the guy was sent by the evil queen, Esmeralda. She knew Kai right from the moment she saw him. He was her brother who decided instead of working under the queen's knights, he would be a thief as most elves had become. Her eyes landed on a scar that rested on his head from their fight before he had left. She threw a vase at him to protect herself from him. He had been under a spell. It stopped the spell but he got away into the forest surrounding their old home.
"Azura? Are you alright? You haven't touched your soup," Ava pointed out.
"I'm fine. Just thinking. I'll take first watch. You get some rest," the elf girl smiled at the human.
Ava nodded, setting her empty bowl on the tree stump they were sitting at. Ava crawled into the tent next to Kai and laid down.

Azura drank from her canteen, which was filled with hard liquor. She never really drank from it, as it was a gift from her mentor. She scoffed as she gazed up at the stars.
"We should just go," she grumbled.
She hit her forehead, knowing it was a stupid drunken idea. Her gaze fell onto the ground below her. Ava needed to make a choice as whether they should move on soon or not. Suddenly, Ava walked out of the tent, sniffling as if she had been crying.

Hey little readers. Sorry for the late update. I haven't had internet up until yesterday and I thought I should post up today. Sorry for the short chapter with a cliff hanger. The next one will be longer.
