"another step towards moving on, another step to healing"

Staring out the window of the moving car, GYEOUL tries to calm herself as the thought of moving to a different city dawns on her.

She was wondering how things would play out in this city. Now that she's moving places, would she be enrolled in a school in the city? Or would she ask to be homeschooled and take a break from being around people in hopes of forgetting her past?

Looking out the window, she winces as she realizes it's just trees everywhere, how long has she been staring out, she wonders.

But continued to watch the trees move slightly as the wind blew through them and the clouds that were passing by calmly, the sun shining brightly.

Gyeoul at the moment was the opposite of the sun.

She felt empty. She used to be so happy for the sun to be out and shining but instead here she sits, inside her dad's car, looking a bit dead.

Startled, she looks to her right to see her mother who was calling her to tell her they've arrived. She thought they had a few hours more before they reached the destination but she was too caught up in her thoughts to realize where they were and before things could process for her, her mum opened her door and helped her out. As soon as she got out the first people her eyes landed on were her grandparents.

She ran past her mum as best as she could and hugged her grandparents, "I missed you so much", she whispers to them, smiling.

"We missed you too honey, why don't you come inside and tell us how your trip went? Tell us about school too!", her grandma sweetly asks her, laughing slightly.

Gyeoul stood frozen from her grandma's request but agreed, she walked behind her grandparents as they walked inside the house.

Sighing, she stepped in the house and looked around amusingly.

The way the house was illuminated and designed was very amusing to look at for Gyeoul.

Her parents and grandparents watched her as she looked around, amusement and excitement evident on her face.

She ran to the stairs hoping to see her room but before she got to the 2nd floor, she heard a shout from her dad, "Your room is on the right side, 2nd floor!".

Smiling, she hurried her steps towards the direction her dad told her.

Upon opening the door to her room, she notices how similar this room was from her old one. She's happy.

The bay window looked peaceful. You could see a few trees from the side, a house across, and the sky was still the same as while they were on their way to this house, bright but calming.

She turns back and looks at the entirety of her room.

The bed looked comfy, a soft gray carpet on the ground at the foot of it; there's a bedside table with a lamp, and what seemed to be her school bag leaning on the side of it; a shelf of books near the bay window and a table beside it with a desk lamp and a note that she assumes is from her sweet grandma.

She was content. She loved the design of her walls to the arrangement of the bed and the tables.

Realizing her room is missing her things, she hurried down to get her stuff. She thought it would be better to get things over with and fix her room before she figures out everything else.

Just as she finished fixing the table beside her window, she saw someone waving from her peripheral view. Gyeoul looked out the window to see her neighbor, who seemed to look like someone around her age, warmly waving at her.

She waved back with a smile and went back to fixing her stuff as she saw the guy turn away from the window like someone called him.

Kim Sunoo has always been a bright kid.

Despite being different from most kids and restricted from countless things, he never lost his bright, cheerful aura.

He had a few friends who stuck by him, never letting him feel out of place and always visiting him whenever they could.

Sunoo has a case of a weak heart or cardiomyopathy.

He has trouble doing things normal people do—normal kids do.

Growing up he was in and out of the hospital, always having to be checked upon every now and then.

It was hard for him to make friends with his state, people would stay away from him.

He thought they were stupid for thinking his defect is contagious—in which—it's really not.

Like come on, it's not a cough or a cold.

He was fine being alone, honestly. He was just happy to be able to have a little independence and was more than grateful for his parents to be supportive but still caring.

And when his parents finally let him go to regular school instead of being stuck at home all the time, he met 6 other kids who were determined to be his friends. They were very chaotic but welcoming and cheerful. It's what he loved about them and thankfully even his parents loved them too upon meeting them.

They are now a part of why he continues to be happy despite the pain that his sickness brings him.

He has been very excited for the past week knowing that school was just around the corner, so as a result, he's practically jumping off the walls from excitement but still hoping his parents would let him go to school again and see his friends outside their house.

As his thoughts were interrupted by a car door, he walked to his bay window to check if the new neighbors were there.

The moment he saw this unfamiliar car in front of the house across from him, he was ecstatic, waiting for who would be staying in the room that was across his window.

He heard from his mum that the elderly couple that lives in the house will be reuniting with their daughter's family so when he saw the car arrive he was hoping someone his age would be staying there as well.

As he waits patiently, he tries to clean his table and look for a pen and a paper he could write on.
