"good days start with an unusual but comforting feeling"

Jung Gyeoul had just arrived at a convenience store near her home at 10 am to buy snacks for a party that starts at 8pm.

Why 10 am you ask? Well Gyeoul doesn't know either...

Sunoo had told her on the phone yesterday that the call would be at eight in the evening yet here she was starting to get ready for the party at ten in the morning. She didn't check the time when she woke up about an hour ago, she just hurriedly got ready, picked up her phone and wallet then made her way to the store.

She thought she woke up late and cursed at herself for being so behind schedule but what she didn't realise at that moment was that it was way too early for her schedule to start.

Last night, she figured out a way to be productive yet still ready for the party that was to happen in the evening. Her schedule included finishing her English project, reading a couple of chapters from a book she started the other day, finding the disco light in the garage, and making a collaboration playlist for all of them to listen to during the party.

She was excited, a little nervous underneath but she wanted everything to go smoothly, she wanted this to work out.

She never really had friends of her own. Despite knowing and befriending so many people, she never really had a group of friends to call as close friends; people she can call at the most random hours, people she can talk to about anything and everything, people can feel safe and comfortable with, and people she knows will be her friends for life. She was always a listener and someone who liked to help, maybe that's why she never really had friends of her own because she was never able to establish that kind of relationship with her peers, it was always about making them feel better when they needed it and then she's left alone when they're all better and back to the friends they have of their own.

When you feel like you're about to find that group of friends that you badly wanted for the longest time, you tend to want everything to be perfect and just right. Of course, you'll be nervous because you want it to go well. It's not a crime–it's not even close to being bad–to want everything to be perfect, as long as you're still real to yourself.

"Gyeoul! It's so early–it's not even noon! Why are you at the store this early–for a party that starts at friggin' 8!"

"I didn't mean to be here this early... I just–I woke up then got ready because I thought it was late!" she reasoned out.

Sunoo was speechless. He wasn't sure if she was excited or nervous, but it was weird to see her this way. "Uh, okay. I don't know how to reply to that..." he judgingly stated.

"Aish whatever," she dismissed his statement, changing the topic she asked, "Are you allowed to have tteokbokki?"

"Duh! It's tteokbokki! No one can stop me." he sassily replied.

"Yeah, but your mum will, for sure."

"Can I please have tteokbokki? Pretty please!" he cutely asked.

Gyeoul pulled the phone away from her ear for a few seconds, looking at the phone with disgust and pretending to vomit, "Aye, stop that will you? Fine, I'll buy the tteokbokki later—but," she interjected, "if your mum declines, I'm keeping it!"

"Whatever, my mum can make tteokbokki!"

"You know what? Nevermind!", she started, an idea popped up, "What if I just buy the ingredients and then cook it myself! How about that?" she proposed.

"Damn, wow. I didn't know you could get any kinder..." flabbergasted, he said, "Hmm, that would be nice though! Thanks, Gyeoul!"

"Yeah yeah, okay. I'll hang up now, I'll finish looking for snacks and buy the ingredients. See ya!"
