Chapter 5

"Y/n?" He looked shocked, almost as shocked as I was feeling.

"You two know eachother?" Tony asked, surprised.

"Know eachother? He was my best friend when I was in the orphanage, we went to kindergarten together," I smiled, very happy to see him again.

"Ok, well I guess you have a lot of catching up to do, you can go to the living room, I dont think anyone in there at the moment." Tony suggested

"Thank you, Mr. Stark" peter said as he led me to the elevator.

"You know, I only got here last night so I dont really know where everything is" I said, attempting to make conversation with the one person i missed the most, the one person i thought about most when staring at the hard concrete wall of my cell at the HYDRA base.

"Just follow me," he answered awkwardly, obviously still shocked to see me after so long. We stepped into the lift and shared a couple moments of awkward silence. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I turned around and threw my arms round him, embracing him in a tight hug.

"You dont know how much I missed you!" I cried into his shoulder, "I never stopped thinking about you, never!"

"What happened? I thought you were dead, everyone thought you were dead!" I pulled away, looking down at the floor, still blaming myself for not being able to look after myself.

"Ummmm, well, i got kidnapped by HYDRA on my birthday, they gave me powers. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I should've stopped them. It's all my fault"

"No, no, it's ok, it's not your fault, you didnt do anything wrong." He assured,placing a comforting hand on my trembling arm.

The lift doors opened to reveal a beautiful lounge with lots of sofas (well they did need to seat the whole of the avengers), a huge TV, coffee tables and a really fluffy rug.

"So, a lot must have happened whilst I was away, you have to tell me everything!" I said, steering the conversation away from myself, I didnt want to talk about it anymore.

"Where do I start? What do you want to know?" He said, understanding how I was feeling.

"Well, hows the spidey stuff going?" I asked, starting on something less personal so I didnt start crying again.

"Good, yeah, I'm an avenger now, but only for the most important stuff. You know, with school and everything, I'm much better off being the 'friendly neighbourhood spiderman' to be honest"

I nodded "I bet it must be difficult staying on top of things"

"A bit, but Mr. Stark helps a lot with that"

"That's good, how are Ned and MJ?" I said, hesitant. I was really worried about what happened to them.

" well, you know how MJ litrally never cries? Well she didnt stop crying for weeks after you disappeared, she dropped out of school so that she could spend every hour of the day helping people look for you. She's ok now, and dont worry, she hasn't found a new bestie of anything. And Ned helped us both through it all, he was the one who got MJ back into school and me back into being spiderman. I don't know what we would've done without him."

"I'm so sorry, I tried, i really did, but i just wasnt strong enough." I freaked, tears welling up in my eyes again  despite my best efforts.

"Y/n, look at me, none of this is your fault whatsoever, you were 13 for god sake!" I nod and try to change the subject.

"Ummm, ooooh, how's Liz? Are you too together? Please say you are together!"

"Well, the thing is..."

"Oh no, this doesnt sound good..."

"Her dad was making illegal weapons with some of the remains from New York, sorry about your brother by the way, and I kinda ended up fighting him on the night of homecoming when I was supposed to be Liz's date. Now she hates me for ditching her and wont speak to me"

"Oh no, that's not good, ah well, there's plenty more fish in the sea" I joked, trying to cheer him up.

"Hey y/n," I nodded, "you know on the day you disappeared? Well you kept on saying that you wanted to tell me something important. I've wondered for so long what it was. Is there any chance you can tell me now?"

My eyes widened at his question, my cheeks felt like they were on fire. I remembered full well what had wanted to say but I couldnt tell him now. I couldn't tell him that i really liked him, i just couldnt bring myself to do it. Did i even feel that way anymore? "Oh umm... I c...can't remember"

"Oh," his face fell, "ok, well dont worry then"

We spent the rest of the day talking and exploring the tower. I even showed him what I could do with my powers. We got back to the lounge to find all of the team sitting on the sofas and beanbags.

"Just in time! We are just about to start movie night. And, as you are the newest member, you get to choose the film" Tony said, gesturing for us to sit down on the spare sofa. I sat a little closer to Peter than I was expecting but I didnt want to seem rude so i just stayed there.

"Ummm...what have I missed while I was away?" I asked

"Well there's a new Jumanji?" Sam suggested, causing Cap to look very confused, "it's a movie about a game-"

"Just let him watch it," Nat cut across "We dont need a whole explanation." That learned an annoyed glance from Sam.

"I'd love to watch it! I'm kinda hungry though, I missed breakfast, lunch and we havent had dinner yet" I said breaking the sentence. Just then, the arms of the sofa opened to reveal a wide selection of food.

"Bon Appetit!" Tony announced proudly. There were nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, chocolate, and so much more food than any of us really needed to eat. We all tucked in as FRIDAY started up the movie.

It was getting later and later and the movie went on. I was getting more and more tired. My eyes started to drop and my head rested on Peter's shoulder. I drifted off to sleep. It felt good to be here. To have a new friends. I never wanted it to end.

I was typing this up whilst listening to Olivia rodrigo because it's really easy to focus whilst listening to her music. It's actually quite relaxing.
