A loud crash resonated off the wall of the base and I could hear shouting coming from the other side of the large steel door. I wanted to run, to see what was happening, but I just couldn't. My muscles ached with not only the pain but the weight of my emotions in my shoulders. Those monsters said emotions were a weakness, but emotions were what helped me escape last time so I was going to hold on to them no matter what.
I was snapped back into reality when I heard the slow creak of the door. Quiet footsteps echoed through my cell as someone snuck inside. I headed a small gasp as they must've spotted my nearly lifeless body curled up in the corner. I couldn't lift my head to see their face. But I definitely didn't expect the person of whom the voice belonged to.
"Y/n?" I heard them whisper as I felt strong arms wrap around my weak form gently. I had longed for this moment for what felt like forever...
" Pete? " I croaked with all the energy I had left. My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. I let out a breath as I realised it was him, the person I missed the most.
"Heyyy, it's going to be ok. We are going to get you out of here, I got you" I felt myself get lifted from the ground and carried away. I started fading in and out of consciousness, hearing distant shouts and worried whispers. A glimmer of hope sent a surge of happiness through my body. My knight in shining armour had come to save me, the princess from the castle guarded by thousands of fire-breathing dragons. My life was far from a farytale but maybe there was a 'happy ever after ' on the horizon.
Everything was gonna be ok...
